Poverty

poverty anywhere is poverty every where. I quite agree with those who say we should make poverty History. Yunus Muhammad,Economist, banker and social business man Winner world food and Nobel peace Prize put it more succintly when he said we should put poverty in a museum. His latest book Creating a world without poverty;social business and the future of capitalism should infact be the bible of poverty eradication in such countries like Nigeria which has the same population(140 million) and same level of corruption as Bangladesh where yunus muhammad is based. Yunus Muhhammad with his ideas has been instrumental to lifting ioo miilion families out of poverty. We should all join Yunus muhammad with his innovations in eradicating poverty. This book is compulsory reading for those really concerned about poverty.

Good to hear the wonder fix of Yunus on poverty-but we live in a different world-in my country poverty is going to be around for a long time-there is poverty every where, but many other well connected, powerful and corrupt Ugandans are wallopping in stinky riches while thousands are in dire poverty, there is a large sections of the population in my country that has been condemned to permanent want! We are still waitng for the day when YUNUS'S social Business will get to the grass roots of our society

Just yesterday Bode Augusto who served as Bugdetry advuser in Nigeria echoed similar views. He said government spending is not getting to the grass roots. you need to read thisbook by Yunus Muhhammad and paticipate in the struggle to eradicate poverty. Who knows maybe you would turn out to be the Mahatma Gandhi of iNDIA IF NOT THE yUNUS mUHHAMMAD.Yunus Muhammad started out with 27 dollars from his own pocket about 30 years ago. You are an academic like yunus Muhhammad. Get his book .He has his email address included and postal adress he is very aceesible and so you can begin the struggle against poverty in Uganda. SOCIAL BUSINESS by Yunus Muhhamad is about Human rights,Education, health,ICT,Electricity,Nutrition, housing, employment etc I would try and give you the relevant information and I suggest you get your hands on the biography of NEHRU(india) written by AKBAR or any other good one. From 27 dollars he has given out more than a billion dollars .Read his book Banker to the poor. Some rich people are interested in Poverty eradication you would find them in Uganda. IIt is not about donations it is about entrepreneurship that yunus preaches.

Professor Muhammad Yunus,Grameen Bank,Mupur Two,Dhaka 1216,Bangladesh.FAX:88028013559,email:yunus@grameen.net website:www.grameen.com. Yunus "s book Creating a world without poverty is very inspiring. For instance he calls on a movement of people using IT to eradicate poverty. If you are reading this you can be part of that movement.Just form your own small group. The journey of a thousand miles stars with a step.If you have friends on my lot you can form a group. The battle against povert can be won. On corruption, I think you should read jeffrey sachs book Ending POVERTY.Sachs argues that the problem is not corruption in places like Africa but instead things like Malaria and geographic disadvantage.Jeffrey Sachs has been described as the worlds most influential economist with experience in more than 100 countries he served as Adviser to the then secretary General of the United Nations KOfi Anan.Form you own group Today based on the ideas of Yunus Muhammad.Get a copy of the book .Buy for your friends. Discuss with your friends.

hi there, i live in the Philippines. Where poverty and corruption are still large issues. I think poverty is something we can't do anything about if corruption is still in the picture. Poor people here in my country live in unacceptable living conditions (alongside creeks, under bridges, etc.) and are eating less than 3 meals in a day. The government is full of promises but still majority of the people are the oppressed and the masses. because THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GET POORER. corruption should be erradicated.. then we can progress and prosper.

How can corruption be eradicated? You need a transparent leader in government and you need non violent change in government. There is a lot to be learned from the experience of India and the struggle for indepence. We need a new generation of NEHRUS and GANDHI but in the meantime we should adopt the strategy of Yunus MUhammad. Out side government he has been able to reduce poverty in his country substantially. Please read his Book: CREATING A WORLD WITHOUT POVERTY: social business as the future of capitalism.
