Soap Opera Actors flip flopping shows

I have noticed that many times when an actor or actress on a soap opera becomes popular, they chose to leave the show and then a year or so later, they end up coming back or wind up in another soap. Do you think that they leave to explore new acting or career options and realize that soaps is their best option? I have recently seen Tamara Braun on Days of our Lives after leaving General Hospital (2nd Carly Corinthos) and Sarah Brown (Original Carly) is back on General Hospital as a new character (daughter of mobster, Anthony Zaccara). What other actors or actresses have been known to change shows??
