When you buy a CD from your favorite artists, do you end up liking every song?

I think the last time I bought a CD from a music store was before christmas. I picked up the latest Fall Out Boy CD. I heard them on the radio over and over and it grew on me, so I felt that I had to go buy this new album. I must say that I ended up only liking 4 songs on it. The rest I wished were not there. When was the last time you bought a CD, and how many songs did you like on it? Did you only buy the CD for one song that you liked when you heard it on the radio?

Back in the day, I would buy a cassette tape for just one song and that song was the Only song I would play. In fact I got a Peter Gabriel cassette for one song and found out that another of my favorites was on the same tape. Now with CD's, it is easier to just listen to the track you like and forget the rest,

I have aw of those cassettes too. I liked that you could get only the song you wanted and none of the songs you may or may not like.

Wow I didn't even think about tape cassettes. I use to buy them as well. But I would go straight to the cassette singles that had just one or two songs on them and buy those either because I didn't have enough money for the complete cd, or a song caught my attention from being played on the radio

Its rare that when I buy a CD I like every song on it. Usually I like 2 or 3. But when I bought Seethers latest CD, I like 11 out of the 13 songs on it. Most of the time I just download the songs I like.

The last two CDs I bought were "Magic" by Bruce Springsteen and "Long Road Out Of Eden" by The Eagles. I had heard a single from each of the albums, but I would have bought them even if I hadn't heard anything off the album. Both albums had to grow on me a little (2-3 listens the whole way through), but now I consider the Eagles album to be very good and the Springsteen album to be a masterpiece.

Don't you just love it when you buy a cd and all the songs are good? I love when that happens. It's like finding a pot of gold :) thanks for your thoughts

No definitely not. I never buy CDs (or cassettes, when they were there). Everytime I wanted to buy a pre-recorded stuff and went thru the listings, there were some that actually gave me the headache. So for a little extra, I always make a list of songs I like and get them recorded in my own order of preference.

I make these song lists too, and it takes me about 2-3 months to do this. It's just hearing music songs on the radio that I end up liking and by the time that 2-3 months is over, I'm tired of the last cd I've made and ready for the new thanks for your thoughts

I very rarely have bought a CD where i like all songs or even most songs.Mostly just the songs i had already heard.I don't buy cds anymore for this reason. Most songs are just a filler so we dont get ripped off..my opinion anyway.

well i have to admit that whenever i buy a cd or download a whole album, there will be bound to be some songs that i don't like. for those songs, i'll just skip 'em- will just listen to the ones that i like. if i downloaded the whole album, i'll just delete off the songs that i don't like and keep the ones that i really like hehe.

It's very rare for me to like every song on a cd. I think it's only happened twice in my lifetime. Thanks for replying

I never bought CD for one or two songs i liked from that specific album. Last time i bought CD was 4 years ago, it was Quentin Tarantino Collection. If i hear a good song on the radio, i just download it on the internet. I consider it a waste of money buying original CD 'cause of 2-3 good songs.

Yes the internet is nice isn't it? We get tons of things for free, cd's, movies.... imagine without it? I'm sure more people would be buying cds then. I'm not even sure how the artists are making money anymore when internet users download music for free? thanks for your opinion

This is a big reason I have practically stopped buying cd's. So often it is the case that there are a couple songs that are great and the rest are forgettable. That is why it is great that you can buy and download individual songs nowadays. You just pick the songs you want. Love it!

Me too! I love that idea as well... say I walk into a music store and want 10 cd's .. how much is that going to cost me? I'd say around $100 plus taxes, so we're looking at $120-$130. Then I take those cd's home and listen to them, find on every single cd, I don't like any other than the songs I do like.. what a waste of money! I love the downloading songs on the internet the best too. I can make mixed cd's and enjoy then that much better thank you for your response.

I brought my last CD in the last summer vacation. It is the latest album of my idol Jackey Xue (he's a Chinese pop star who you might not know). I enjoy 9 songs out of 10. That album is really fantastic to me. Generally, i do not like all the songs. But my view is that after listening to the CD for several more times, the songs you do not like before may become more pleasant. And I won't buy the CD for one song. I prefer to search it on the internet.

The last time I bought a CD was right around Xmas time but for the life of me I can't remember what CD it was LOL (I buy CDs almost as much as I buy books which is ALOT LOL)...Do I always end up liking the entire thing....no not always..usually there is at least one song that I dont care for but liking an entire CD has happened..then of course there are times when I end up only liking one or two songs..thats rare but it has happened..

I agree, it is very rare where I'll find a whole cd I really like. There are the ones where I find just grow on me immediately, then there are others where it takes me awhile to warm up to the songs on the album except the ones I already like, then finally there's the ones where I just end up not liking and stay with that decision. It's bad when that happens though thanks for your thoughts

The last CD I bought was Bon Jovi's 'Lost Highway', and I do have to say I like the entire CD. Of course Bon Jovi is my absolute favorite band, I have all their CDs and I like all of the songs on them. My other favorite is Daughtry, and I like all of the songs on their CD. But other than that I don't buy any other cds, I'll just download what songs I like.

Yes BonJovi is great. In the 80s that was one of the alltime best hairbands ever! I was happy to see they came out with something recent. They didn't have a problem with bouncing back on the charts. I don't buy a cd unless I feel I really really like the song. Otherwise I download other singles too thanks for your comment

Rarely do I like the entire cd. If I do it's because it's from a group I really love - like U2, or a cd of various artists. So, I usually just downlod the songs I do like.

Thank god for those music sample players on the walls they have! Sometimes if I hear a song on the radio and it grows on me, I'll refer to those machines and if I find that I won't like various artists, then I'll just burn the one song I love. thanks for your thoughts
