What is the EARLIEST Dream or Nightmare you remember?

What is the EARLIEST dream or nightmare that has stayed in your memory? And how long has it been in your mind? My two most vivid and remembered dreams were both nightmares in my childhood. The first one was decades ago when I was only 3 years old. There was a huge gorge hundreds and hundreds of feet below, filled with deadly quicksand. I was on one side with my mother who I clung to. On the other side, my father and sister looked at us so sad. They were in the bright and cheery land. We were in the dark and deadly side. My mother and I clenched hands. We knew in our hearts that it wasn't possible to make it across, but we ran and jumped for our lives. Down, down we fell. I woke up crying with fright and sadness. My mother came running to rock me back and forth. She helped to ease my pain. How frightening. And I still remember the scene.

I dont remember which is the earlist or what order they came in but there is three childhood dreams that i remember. One was just a guy sitting there talking and i was scared b/c he was a stranger. (a while after that the same guy was talking in the same boring tone on tv and it scared me for some reason) The second dream i can think of was with my cousin and she hit her head and became evil and would poke me and kept poking me and it was scaring me and she would hide and jump out all scary like. Than the last dream i remember wasnt really a scary one I was chasing a light and it happened three nights in a row (so did the one with my cousin in it) and the last night i almost reached the light than i didnt have that dream anymore.

Thanks for sharing, libertarian, :o) The third dream got more of my attention (over the boring talking the man seemed to have with you). Did you ever tell your cousin about the dream where she turned evil? If not, I bet she'd get a fun laugh out of it now, though it wasn't funny when it happened. Also, it's cute that the "evil" was just poking you, instead of injuring you.

My first remembered dreams are from when I was four years old, and they are basically part of my religious beliefs now. They were dreams of my primary Goddess, and she would speak words of courage and strength to me. The other early dreams I remember which are nightmares are basically just memories. It's hard to tell when I started having which ones, because it gets confused with when the events actually happened. The most vivid one I remember that isn't exactly a memory was one in which I killed my grandmother's husband... which sounds really horrid on my part, but he was abusing me at the time.

Ooh, my eyes bulged out when you wrote about your dream of murdering your grandmother's hubby. But then when I read the rest, I understood. Sorry to hear about that bad experience with him. And that nightmare probably gave you more strength. I've never had a dream (I don't think at least) where I kill someone. I have had a dream where I have accidentally or unwantingly killed a bug or something, and I was so sad when I woke up. How many years ago was that (or about- like years or decades, or centuries?) ;o)

Ummm... that one was probably about when I was four or five too, so... 22 or 23 years ago? I have to admit that I've dreamed about killing people more than is probably healthy, but I spent the first 18 years or so of my life being abused, so it's not that surprising when you think about it. My favorite dreams when I was younger were of course the ones about my Goddess, though I didn't know that's what she was until I told my great-grandmother about the dreams and she showed me the same Goddess in a book.

Thanks for sharing. You are a very strong person to have overcome such hard years in youth. And glad you remember the happy dreams the most. It's much harder to remember those longterm, I assume. Just peeked at another of your postings (my new friend), and see we have some more similarities. :o)

My last bad dream was about my sister. I dreamed that she was kidnapped and killed and it was my father who told me in our kitchen. I was really shocked and woke up. I send a message to my sister right away around 3am.. asking if how was she.. hehehe.. got really scared. When I told her about it, she laughed.

How many years ago was this? Were you an adult already? I'm glad she got a laugh out of it, instead of getting too scared! ;o) It's interesting to find out if you remember your childhood dreams or nightmares. Thanks

Several years ago when I was little, somewhere around the late 80s to early 90s, the only earliest nightmare that I had was this: I never liked scary animals like lions, but this nightmare took place in my parents' room, and on a TV was that infamous Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer lion. It was roaring as usual, but then... ..THE LION CRASHED THROUGH AND JUMPED OUT OF THE FREAKIN' TV, CHARGING RIGHT AT ME AND CHASED SO FAST TO EAT ME! I ran as fast as my little feet and legs could carry me. I ran out of my parents' bedroom as fast as I could. I ran for my life, and that's when I woke up. I still remember it as though it was yesterday.

Ooh, that was a great illustration in my head of your scary dream! (If you take out the "freakin" pat, heh heh, it would make a terrific tale to tell children!) But thanks for sharing. That was great to hear (though not great at your moment). Are you still scared of lions? ;o)

The earliest dream I remember was also a nightmare around age 3. My family were visiting friends and while all of us kids were playing the adults were watching Nightmare on Elm Street. I had sneaked into the living room and was peering at the television from behind a chair for quite sometime before my mother caught me and ran me out of the room saying 'you're going to have nightmares!' Boy was she right! Every night for the next week that is all i dreamed about. I would wake up in cold sweats scream at the top of my lungs. To this day I still can't watch those movies or the nightmares flood back at night when I'm sleeping. Scared for life....

I'd take a guess, that was 20 years ago. ? And oh gosh, Nightmare on Elm Street. I only saw maybe a couple seconds of that once when I was a child. And since then, I refuse to watch any horror movies or shows at all! Literally, too much for me. I don't remember my dreams even a teaspoon near as much as when I was a child/teenager. But I guess when you start remembering them, then you do regularly. Probably if we started writing our dreams every morning, we'd have more. Thanks for the response. :o)
