Does butterscotch ice cream have any butter?

Recently at a family wedding, I had the yummiest butterscotch ice cream ever. Being an absolute foodie, I enjoy all flavours of ice cream but this was the best. It had such a distinct butter flavour and the pralines were so profuse that it was just heavenly. As I ate it, I was wondering whether they put actual butter in it and if they do, why didn’t I get its taste in ice-creams from other companies? I also want to know why is it called ‘butter-scotch’. Have you ever tasted ice-cream from any particular brand that tasted distinctly better than other brands?

Hi Sudipta, so you attended the wedding? Did your son's friends and their parents attend? I guess the wedding was a success.
Oh my.... my taste buds are flooding. I can only imagine. In this side of the world I think every company has a different taste but I like Ohhho!, Italian icecream.

hi kwenge,
yes, I attended it and my son’s friend came with his dad. This gentleman was real nice, I mean he came early and even though he was mostly roaming around by himself, he stayed for more than 2 hours so that the two friends can have a nice time. The wedding was a success and this block of ice-cream is really a leftover of it. Since we were the hosts, whatever excess food was there, was given to us by the catering company to take home. The fridge is stuffed and I feel sick just looking inside. We have all sorts from flavoured rice to chicken to sweets and this ice-cream. I enjoyed myself very much.
So you love Italian ice-cream…is it the same as gelato? We have a gelato parlour here and though I have never tasted it, it does sound interesting.

I know that real butterscotch is made with real butter and cream. So if it was a quality ice cream and it sounds as if it was then chances are it probably did. I adore Baskin Robbins Pralines and cream. Brewers makes a good pralines and cream also. Other then that I am a plain vanilla bean ice cream person.

Well this was the first time I tasted anything so buttery. I have not had BR ice creams yet. They are available in my city but very expensive…like more than one dollar per scoop.

I have never had butterscotch ice cream. I've had butterscotch topping poured over vanilla ice cream and that is yummy. I bet butterscotch ice cream is even better. I'm going to be looking for it so I can try it out.I'm not sure but I believe there is real butter in butterscotch candy and toppings.

Yes, and with the ice cream season coming on, I plan to really stock my fridge with different flavours. I also love kesar pista a lot.
