do you think cats prefer living outdoors or inside with the family. Ou cats have always wanted to go out and the dogs have slowly kicked them out.....but I feel really bad for them outside all the time? Do they want the human contact or do they love the outdoor freedom? What do you cat lovers do with your cats?

I personally think that sometimes they prefer a little of both worlds because if you have a cat you know that they are very curious..therefore the outside would be better there...but at night and in the winter time when it gets really cold they would probably prefer to be in a warm house and not outside where it is freezing

my cats generally prefer to be inside but i let them come and go as they please. cats are very independent by nature and i think its important to give them a certain degree of freedom. dogs on the other hand i think would stay inside all the time if they could, just because they like being with people. then again they also really like going places...haven't taken a cat to the park in a while. haha

We have cats that prefer being inside all the time and other cats that like being indoors and outside. I don't think they really like being outside all the time, especially in bad weather. All of our cats like human contact and being taken care of.
We even have a wild cat that adopted us that goes in the garage at night with the other cats. Apparently not even he wants to stay outside all the time!

my 2 cats are strictly indoor cats. one has never been outside, other than the few occasions that i took her outside with me. the other, who i rescued from the local ospca, i don't know if she's been outside before, but she will never be an outdoor cat again if she was. i keep their curiousity and sense of adventure peaked with lots of different toys and places for them to climb. it is proven fact that cats who live strictly indoors live much longer than cats who go outdoors (less risk of injury and disease from other animals)-so i want to keep them around as long as possible. and i do think they love human contact. one of my cats sits on or near me all evening and the other sleeps with me, so they both get some time with me.

hi there,
based on my experience you should give the cat freedom to roam around. to go in and out as they wish because cats are naturally roaming like that (beats me)..
our cats atleast are..
you know that thingy in the door where they can go in and out, that really help so even in the night they have the chance to go in and out of the house anytime they want
