Help the homeless?

When a homeless person approaches you and ask for money do you give them some?
If so are you afraid they may by alcohol with it?
Luckily there are no homeless in my small town. when I visit bigger cities i keep a few small bills in my pocket just in case. I do not want to pull my wallet out becaue I would feel bad for them to see how much money I carry (if I am on vacation i carry more).

Being a former street person myself I have the habit of more often than not, helping out someone on the streets..HOWEVER there are times when I just get that gut feeling about a person and KNOW that giving them money isnt in their best interest or mine on some occasions so I dont...

I give from my heart. I dont think about what they will do with it. Hopefully they use the money wisely.

I have given the homeless money. Just to run into them in the liguor store later. I've seen homeless people have on better(name brand) shoes than me.
