Am I the only one who did not like Casino Royale and the new direction of James Bond?
Firstly, Daniel Craig does not look the part. Although he is a good actor and have enjoyed many of his roles, he is not James Bond, is he? As a critic (who like Casino Royale) said, Daniel Craig looks like the sort of person James Bond might bump into at MI6 hq.
Also, the Bond origin element with a young James Bond was a bit silly with Daniel Craig. In the Ian Fleming novels, James Bond was in his mid 20's when he got his 00 licence. Craig is 40 and his Bond is supposed to be the same age. You could argue that in the modern world agents would become 00 agents at a more mature age. But, Craig's Bond was acting like he was in his early twenties.
Although they did not have the gunbarrel sequence and the Bond music (they will return in the next one I think) which did not help, it simply did not feel like a James Bond film, but instead an average action/thriller with Daniel Craig.

Wow! I am so glad that I am NOT the only one who couldn't stand this film, I refuse point blank to buy the dvd, I have every single James Bond dvd in my collection apart from Casino Royale. I don't like Daniel Craig at all, he is not a true Bond and is too swarve, fancies himself too much and doesn't play the correct part, very very disappointing, I hope like George Lazonby he only does one film and doesn't return. I was saddened to hear that Pierce Brosnan didn't want to continue as 007. The film was awful too and very lame and slow.

I didn't like it one bit. I like my Bond to be more beautiful, less gritty and for him to look like he is having fun or is in on the joy of the movie. That is why Roger Moore is my favorite. Like Craig, he is blonde but unlike Craig , Roger is suave. And besides, Casino Royale didn't have any great puns, a large amount of beautiful women James gets with, or great toys.I saw this film once when it came out on DVD and I didn't like it. Last night I taped it for my sister and saw it again and now I know I hate it. As I said back then,if I wanted a intense, gritty, action hero, I prefer Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.
