I'm going buggy looking at the new friends i have in my friends list whom have not changed their avatars!! If anyone needs help please ask for it;)
And to the more experienced mylot crowd, how long did it take you to change your avatar when you first came to mylot?
I think that was the first thing i figured out how to do cause i disliked that green boogery avatar from the beginning!!

hahahaha, the green boogery avatar, you are so funny Sissy..I think it did take me a while to figure it out, then it took even longer for me to change it again because I had forgotten how..Then when my security started preventing me from doing certain things, then I had to change all over again how I do it.. Now I have it down packed and the only problem would be finding one that I like better than the one I have now..:)

I think I changed my avatar before I even made my first post. It's one of the first things I do on any site when I join, because I like having something that in some way represents who I am or what I enjoy.
I know people who have been here for a long time and still have that green guy on their avatar, and I don't understand it. It makes their discussions less noticeable, I think. It also makes them less likely to be remembered, in my opinion, since a lot of people remember other users by avatars before usernames.

Ah..Yes. I was trying to figure out on how to change it one day. Then I gave up cause I felt it was not very important. It does not matter to me. Now, since you asked, yes, give me the info. on ho w to change. Probably you could send me a message on that. Thanks

For me, it didn't take long. But there is not a fair judge as I am more of the techy kind.:)
I think there are reasons why some "refuse" to change their default avatars.
One might be that they are really too busy - to find pictures and all.
Or, they can't find a suitable picture to represent them.
Or, they are accessing myLot from a public computer and so cannot download pictures.
Among others.

Same here! I too hated that "green boogery avatar." So, I posted a discussion begging for help. I think it took me a few weeks after I became an active member of Mylot to change my avatar. Am quite fond of that black cat and would like to stick to it as long as I am here. Cheers! :)

That's awesome that you asked for help ;)
I'm sure some people taht would like to change their avatar just are either scared or too proud to ask for help.. And like another respondee said, some m ight have other reasons like using a public computer and they can't download an image to upload it to mylot!
So I offer my help to those in need, i hope some more boogery avatar people take it! I like to see the pictures people choose for themselves ;)

I think I changed mine either my second or third day on Mylot. It may even have been my first day. It was pretty easy once I found where to do it. I think some people just don't care about their avatar. Mine is from my blog on blogspot and I wanted to bring her over here too. She suits me well!

It didn't take long for me to figure it out, thank goodness! I don't like that little green guy, darn thing gives me the creeps. :P Okay, that is a bit extreme, but it does annoy me. LOL I didn't start participating in mylot until after I had an avatar of my own as there was no way I was going to use the default one in my postings. I can see why some of the new users may use it, but for the ones that have been here for some time, there really is no excuse not to have something more original. Like you said, all someone has to do is ask and most likely someone will help them out. :)

Hello Sissygrl,
It's nice of you to offer open help to new users here. I hope they get advantage of your generous offering!
When I came here about 11 months ago, I did not change my avatar for about 2 weeks. I was more interested in knowing how the things work here, precisely how discussions go about, what topics people are discussing, how they respond and what is considered a norm here, things like that.
Once I got settled a bit, I thought to have an avatar as my Identity, not particularly because I didn't like default one but because I didn't like being anonymous. Sometimes, I had to especially read screen names to know where 'I' am when there were three, four same default avatars in a row. So, I selected one that was different than this one, after about two more weeks (if I am recalling correctly), I got this avatar and it's with me ever since!:-)
It would appear that you are more Identity conscious than I was and you have a beautiful avatar!:-)

It was one of the first thing I figured out as I really hated the default avatar. I won't be changing mine as it stands out when I look to see if I'm still in the 0 responses list, sigh.
Here's a free avatar website for anyone who hasn't found anything yet
