Last Friday night, my husband daughter and me went out for fish fry. Where I live after ash Wednesday up unitl Easter the catholics have a "rule" about not eating meat until Easter, hense the Friday night fish fry. Anyhow as we were sitting at the table my daughter said to me "Mom this is my favorite part of the week". Even if it's not Lent we always go out to eat on Friday, clean the house on Saturday then get movies for Saturday night and Sundays I make a nice dinner to sit down to. Then it occurred to me that we do this almost every weekend so this has become our weekend ritual. What weekend rituals do you have with your family whether you're single, have kids, or married and don't have kids.

When my son is with us we do go out for dinner and we try to do 1-2 family activities together. Last Friday, my son & I went with my parent & my Aunt to fish fry at their church then out for coffee, Saturday we ate a Quizno's (we were suppose to go to Applebee's but the wait was 45 minute, who would wait that long for the food?) and went to Best Buy (he & my husband wanted to buy new games LOL), Sunday we went to see Spiderwick and ate at a Sushu place. This weekend he was suppose to be with his Dad......tonight we are eating at a local diner then coming home to watch Princess Diaries. Tomorrow his Dad is suppose to pick him up, we will see, but we will do our Saturday morning breakfast & Starbucks run.

That's a lovely weekend ritual dfinster. We often spend the weekends either at a movie, or dvds at home, out at the park, or museum or sorts, depending on whether we have extra $$ to spare. Some weekends is just at home hanging out together!

We go by how much $$ we have too. Sometimes it pretty slim picking when it comes to ideas but we manage to do something.

Well, Its really good to spend sometime with your family after such long weekdays of work. There has to be sometime with the family in order to understand them more appropriately. Spending time with family is really awesome. Well we don't go out but what we do is that we order food from outside and settle ourselve in front of TV with new movies to play on our DVD player. Thanks for reading my response. Goodbye

I like to order in too, we have to pick up because we live out in the country. I like to bring a bunch of chinese take-out and watch a movie too. I really like us all spending that time together and appreciate every minute because soon my daughter will want to be going out every weekend with her friends instead of spending it here with her family.

I used to have Sunday dinners at my Grandma's when I was a kid and we used to have a big pot roast quite a bit. I used to love Sundays because of that.

Wow, thats really sweet! Its nice to have something familiar that you can count on..especially making time to relax w/ the family. Weekdays are always pretty hectic around my house, but everyone always finds time on Sunday to get together. Sunday mornings consist of everyone getting up and going to church..then, the best part LOL going out to eat for a sunday lunch!! Its very simple, but it seems to give a really nice start to the week.

My weekend ritual, is rather simple. On Saturdays, like you is when I do house cleaning. On Sundays, is my day off from everything. I don't cook, clean do anything. About the only thing, I do on Sundays, is watch NASCAR! Like God, he took the 7th day off, I do the same. *LOL*

Yup, you're right asbout taking a break on the seventh day. From the end of August to the beginning of February I'm a total NFL Football junkie. I love my Green Bay Packers but when they don't play I'm still addicted to watching other teams. So yes if God took the 7th day off we should abide by that and rest on our couches while watching sports. LOL!~D

Kids love rituals- it's sweet that your daughter said that. My kids like when we stay in and do family things too. Our weekends are pretty similar to yours. We usually go out to lunch on Saturdays, then go to Saturday evening mass. At night we stay in and watch a movie or play a board game with the kids. Sundays I always make a nice dinner. My mom used to do the same thing-- there's something comforting about Sunday dinner.

We used to have a family game night every Saturday but as the girls started sleeping over at friends' houses we kind of lost that. But we still try to fit one in now and then. We also used to eat at this one fish fry many Fridays. But they just raised their prices and changed their fish, so we've kind of stopped that too. Our newest tradition is getting a ton of movies either from Redbox or our local Family Video and stay up til wee hours of morning watching flicks. And a long standing tradition is getting ice cream sundaes on Sunday. -Tink
