I noticed a lot of emos now a days in the mall, school and everywhere I go. They wear the same concept of clothes and even hair. But I don't see any 'emo' acts or things within them. They are just 'emo' in the outside. Are they just being 'emo' because it's what is in now? Has it become a fashion statement instead?

Well "emo" fashion is more around the lines of punk rock fashion. I remember about 3 or 4 years ago when that trend became really big and everyone was dyeing their hair jet black. The kids you see at the mall are just following the trends of ol'school punk rock fashion mixed with the new (the stripes, skinny jeans, wide rim glasses, angled hair cuts and such), as it has emerge to become mainstream and marketable.
(you don't have to act like "emo" person to be able to wear "emo" clothes.)
BTW I don't think the styles called "emo" anymore. I think it's just plain punk.
