With the cost of cable and all the junk on tv, have you ever considered getting rid of cable? Think about all the free time you would have. What would you do with that time? Could you give up tv?

Great Post!
I could, but my family could not. No way! My wife can't fall asleep without it on. My oldest son can't stay away from the sports shows. And my little guys 12 and 6 always have it on. I find it a distraction and an obstacle to communication.
Did you ever notice how people's attention are drawn to the TV screen? There can be something on that no one cares about like the seasonal migration of yellow bellied fleegle worms, and people will still watch it. You can be at a restuarant that has the news or something on and you can barely see the screen and there is no sound, but your eyes are attracted to the tv. It's almost a hypnotic effect.

We gave up our cable television when we had our daughter = and i don't miss it at all, i enjoy reading to her now, when before i'd just flick on the tele, and go out for walks, and have just alot more fun - I look around at my family and friends who still have cable, and they always seem to be busy during set times on a daily basis for their programs, i understand once in a while, but in the end it takes up alot of time - more than you realize.
It was hard giving up tv to start with - but then I was grateful - family activities are a much better way for me to spend my time.

I think about it all the time! I'm trying out a year of digital cable (with a box), phone and Internet with the only cable company available to me. So far, so good. For one year the price is locked in...and I am spending less than I was.
After the year is up...I just don't know. I hate network TV for the most part. So I think I would just as soon give TV up altogether as to just have network coverage.
Good question. I don't watch that much TV, mostly later at night, so I don't see a real difference it would make in my day if I gave it up.

Yes definitely I can give up on TV, seeing that even now I hardly ever watched my TV. I work full time, and after I arrive home, have to cook dinner, have dinner, clean up. And usually after that I got many things to do such as choir practice, hang out with friends, music practice etc2... therefore hardly ever have time to watch TV.
I do love to watch movie whenever I have the time, but even without TV, I can watch movie in the computer or in the cinema :) So yeah, life without TV is bearable for me.
