post here your favourite graphics card brand and why do you choose it.
My favourite is Ati, because i'm an Amd based pc, and how you know Ati is part of Amd company, and its graphics cards are developed to run better with Amd hardware.

I have been an Intel based processor user along with ATI graphic cards since 2002...
Before I used ATI for gaming I used to go for 3Dfx accelerators as they ruled once for their unparalleled performance. Then came nVidia and bought 3Dfx for reasons noone ever knew...But since I was a big fan of 3Dfx and as Nvidia did all that with the fans and even didn't hire all 3Dfx engineers as it was said online, they took the game crown as they benefit from 3Dfx's experience in gaming adn driver stability adn optimizations.
Since then ATI took a step of developing Gaming cards as they feared to be bought due to marketing (which is still the main reason nVidia is still selling).
Most of the nVidia graphics card give better performance on games due to optimizations integrated into the game before its release.
But ATI proved once again that it can be up to the competition and compete the what's so called leader in 3D gaming.
But if go back to the root ATI still has the best windows adn multimedia experience under windows (ranging form VIVO and AIW adn Remote Wonder products) which nVidia will never be able to achieve...ATI still have to work on their 3D Drivers and some optimizations and I see that they will get the crown sooner or later...
But for an all in one graphic card with very acceptable performance in 3D gaming (not counting Frames per second wise or relying of 3D Mark 06 scores and so on) ATI is your best choice...
I will go definitly for ATI and will never think of changing...
Cheers Guys

I prefer ATI, but its look like ATI will never beat NVIDIA in term of performance benchmarking. the newest ATI HD3870 seems not enough powerful to beat Gf 8800GT although the specification of HD3870 is greater than 8800GT, I don't know Y, but I guess, it has something to do with the driver and catalyst control panel, they should build better driver in order to beat nvidia. ATI cards may be cheaper than nvidia's in most countries, but in my country, the price of nvidia cards is really competitive. The latest 9600Gt might be able to beat ATI in term of pricing. And nvidia works well on linux (though the AMD is the main sponsor of openSUSE)... but I heard that ATI is currently developing a catalyst software for linux. I hope this will solve many problems with the compatibility of ATI drivers for linux.

i choose ATI for stability and performance! it is way faster specially if you combined it with AMD processors plus it does not get hot easily unlike nvidia cards which need a huge heat sink and big fan for colling system.

unless you are doing high end gaming or video work, they will both work the same for most comparable models. Both companies make dogs once in a while, but in general the home consumer will notice little difference though NVidia has more half height cards to choose from, which can be important for some users with HP machines.
