As part of my weight-loss regimen, I've decided to eat oatmeal for breakfast. I put a little milk and a little sugar or honey to enhance its taste. At first it okay, but after a few weeks of eating the same stuff, I begun to feel tired of it. Can you give me other healthy ways of preparing oatmeal? What other cereals do you take that in place of oatmeal?

A lot of it depends on your tastes and eating habits. I go into "kicks" where I'll eat the same thing for breakfast for months or years, especially if it's before work. On days off I mix it up.
You don't just have to stick to oatmeal, or the cereal. I will often have oatmeal squares, or breakfast cookies, or even a granola bar or two for breakfast. Still low calorie, still healthy, still has vitamins, and is still packed with carbs for energy.
You can get away with having a more sugar, and more calories for breakfast. IF you were to have one large meal, breakfast should be it because you will most likely burn off most of what you eat.
The keys to losing weight is this: Eat four to five small meals a day. Exercise at least 3 times a week and try to be more active in general during your day.
You can take stairs, park further away, or even do isometric exercises if you are desk bound.
Hope that helps.

I think you can try other flavors of oatmeal... i eat oatmeal very often but not the same flavor... there are a lot of varieties... like... cinnamon, apple, hazel nut, fruits and nuts (my favorite), honeydew, etc... but i think if you really want to lose weight... try to avoid putting any amount of sugar... and use non fat milk...

I eat oatmeal three times a day, sometimes. I almost always put milk in it, but I usually put fruit instead of any sugar or honey. I find that raisins and bananas work the best, but apples and peaches are also great even with the skin still on them. I also eat the Kashi cereals that are low in sugar, but it is more expensive than buying oatmeal.

This is the trouble with diets, they get boring and this is why a lot of the time people fail, I do not stick to a diet, I do not even count calories anymore, I just keep an eye on the fat content of my food, I find for me if I do that then the rest follows.
But at first I worked out how many fat and calories I was allowed a day and then started to learn about what was in the food that I would normally eat and then just changed it. I eat food that I like to eat now, food that I will not get bored of, if I get bored I swap it for one of my alternatives for a while.
There must be loads of cereals that you can exchange for without having to stick to oatmeal all the time, even the name of it sounds boring!! Of course you can liven it up with fruit or whatever, have you ever heard of weetabix? if you have do you like them, because they are low in fat and calories and you can eat them with fruit, yoghurt, anything.

i have experienced that too some years ago. now, i enjoy eating oatmeal by having them with some variations. i really don't like eating it with milk o what i do is i put cocoa instead. i like savory foods so sometimes i use instant soup mix to my oat meal. i like cream of mushroom or cream of chicken with my oatmeal. i also make oatmeal pancake and oatmeal bread. if you don't want to eat the same food everyday, try to mix other things to it so you can enjoy your meal while losing some pounds.
