Do pregnant female sheepdogs die?

Someone told me that female sheepdogs die giving birth for the first time? I have a 2-year old female, and I would like her to have pups once, but my son worries she may die giving birth. Is there a problem?

Well, obviously, they can't all die the first time they have pups, or the breed would die out. That being said, they may need specific care or something, so I would definitely check with a knowledgeable vet before breeding your pup.
