I'm wondering if anyone else here is a fan of his writing as well as his music. His early poetry is especially lovely. This is a favorite of mine:

Please find me
I am almost 30
I've also recently finished his experimental novel "Beautiful Losers," about a man obsessed with saint Catherine Tekakwitha. It's not easy to find, but read it if you do. Really fascinating stuff.
I heard he's touring now. Has anyone seen him?

I have read his novels, a long time ago, and most of his poetry. I saw him twice in London on tour with I'm Your Man and The Future. I thought he had given up touring but after reading your discussion I found out he will be appearing in U.S., Canada and Europe this summer, details to be announced on March 11.

I'm a huge fan of his poetry. His song lyrics are poetry. The lyrics of Last Year's Man are especially poignant. The way he describes all the wars fought over religion as reading from "pleasant bibles bound in blood and skin" sends chills down my spine. Now that I know he has poetry books and novels I'll be sure to check them out. Thanks! I think as a poet he is on a par with Dylan.
