I am a nuclear medicine technologist. I take pictures of people which help the doctor determine what might be going wrong with them. The nice part is getting to meet new people every day. Today, however, I hat a really chatty patient who seemed a little confused. That happens.

I used to be a legal secretary working for the senior partner of the firm. We dealt with some very high-flying clients and the work was great but stressful on occasion with deadlines and Court dates to meet.

A music therapist uses music and music activities to help people make improvements in their lives. That's a VERY broad definition, but it's easier to describe music therapy when you're discussing what type of clients you're working with - people with developmental disabilities, children in the public school setting, people with psychiatric issues, the elderly, people who are dying, someone who needs to reduce stress in their lives, etc. Music is the mode of reaching the person, and often, they don't even know they're "working" on difficult issues. We are trained to use music and music activities to help improve communication skills, academics, social skills, motor skills (movement,) emotional/coping issues, etc.
An example of helping someone develop motor skills is to encourage them to hold and shake a maraca or to lift their arm and hit a drum.
Does that make sense?
