Being new to myloy community few days ago i found that old mylotters dont want to respond new members and not to take interest in adding the new mylotters to their friend list. If a new member joins the mylot he/she try to participate in the discussion and among 121K mylotters only 2 or 3 give respond to him.
Don't you think its gives a very bad impression to the new commer and may cause damage to the mylot community.
I think Mylot has to introduce some type of alerts when a new member joins the community. Whats your opinion about it?

I really do like to respond to the people that are really new to mylot because I know what it is like to not know that much about this website and have alot of questions that you would like to have answered...because i have only been here for about a month now and i still don't understand everything about it...and i think that it is great to be able to help the newbies out to be able to learn things about htis website...

I am a new one as well. Basically, I choose to respond to those posts that interest me, not quite care whether the host is a new or old one.
So far, it is fine for me, I made some new friends here and people on Mylot are kind to me. I think the old mylotter may have more friends to respond their post. But mylotters will be kind to everyone.
Be joyful!

I make it a point to respond every day two categories, without fail:
1) Discussions with no responses(more than 2 days) - By responding this, the initiator may get a kind of booster to start with new discussions. Of course, I am doing on merit basis (order order - I am the judge). This is also based on seeing my own discussions having O responses. ( I have a good heart for others!!!)
2) New user discussions - Here again I am doing purely on judgement which may become a vitamin for the initiator. ( by responding to this, I have proved already.. lol)

I can't speak for all so I can only speak for myself.
Not true!! I love friends and I always accept friend requests. I also initiate friend requests - yes, to new members too.
In fact, I am gonna send you a friend request now. :P
Cheer up, myLot is fun once you get to know it.:)

I like to answer questions from new mylotters if they are interesting, but some of the new bies are one liners who don't argumentate their discussions (ex "do you like this?")
You don't seem one of them. Welcome to my lot :)

I respond to any discussion I think I can whether they are new or not, I have put some discussions up that have had quite a few responces and then some that either dont get any or just one or two, but I always just figure that its because no one found them interesting!

I just answer posts that catch my attention. I never even look to see if someone is new or not, I dont check profiles or look to see how many posts a person has.

I partially agree . Some of the new comers do not get high number of responses here as it takes some time to get used to this community and have an idea how things work here.Once they are in full flow , there is no such thing is new and old mylotter :)

If a discussion interests me, it doesn't matter if the mylotter is old or new, I will respond.
However, I am relatively new to myLot too, and I can understand and comprehend exactly what you are saying. I think you have a very valid opinion here.

I think that a few bad apples in mylot have caused
many of us to be leery of anyone with few posts
and a lot of friends because of the trolls loose
among other good people. I had one new mylotter with
hardly any posts and a huge number of friends when
I deleted this person my star went up from a 6 to a 7.
I know its unfair to a lot of fine new mylotters but
keep trying with responses and soon you will pick up
responses for your discussions and bring up your points
and become known among the older members.and they will
start responding like crazy.

I don't have a problem responding to newcomers, but I have the same reasons for responding as I do to other mylotters. As long as I have something to add to a discussion which is hopefully useful, I don't mind whether the person has very few posts or thousands! As to new member responses, I often check the 'new user discussions' to see whats happening!

Hi tk4159,
You are wrong in your thinking.Even some old members of mylot are getting few responses and some times no response at all. It all depends on the question, topic and discussion you put. If the discussion is interesting I am sure that you will get good responses. So, don't get upset, try and think to post some good topics and I am sure you will get good responses.
Good Luck.

I agree with you exactly!! Not giving new people any response would sure promote bad business practices.
