What do you like about your job?

There aren't many people who list nuclear medicine technician as one of their interests. Not on mylot. But this is my job. And, most of the time, I enjoy it. I'm a rather insular sort of person. I can spend a lot of time just reading -- or even typing out my thoughts. But when I go to my job, I meet people. Not world famous people. Not stars, celebrities, or rich people. But people. And for some part of my day, I care about them. I try to do the best work I can and let them know that they are a "person" in my room -- not just a patient. Not just some cash cow to be moved and moved right on out. And, people talk to me. About their lives, their children, their hopes. Sometimes I learn things about people -- especially people who come from a different land. Sometimes, I see examples which motivate or inspire me. For example, there's a man with a 10% ejection fraction of his heart. This is pretty bad. Yet, even with his enlarged heart and weak ejection fraction .. he is other wise thin and fit. He can walk on the treadmill, following the Bruce protocol for 12 minutes. People as young as 45 years old with no identifiable heart disease (after my test results are in) have stopped at less that stage II. Five minutes.. sometimes even less. Now, you see, this man is not in good health (10% EF = not good at all). But he has a vastly improved quality of life because he works at it. He watches his weight. He walks his treadmill. He goes to his doctor and follows advice. To me, this is uplifting to see. What about you?
