Somebody Please Tell Me Why?

why?? - distress

Why is it that I can keep my cordless phone next to me here on the desk all day long & it doesn't ring, yet it almost immediately rings when I decide to put it back on its charger? And it's always one of those 'unknown' numbers or a dang telemarketer. I know a little bit of a rant... but please my friends tell me why? Or if you have a peeve today leave it here after the beep.

That used to happen to me all the time. Now I rarely use my home phone at all. I'll check it everyone couple of weeks to see what messages have been left, but I keep my dreaded cell phone with me at all times, and only give out the number to select group of people I actually want to talk to, or to be able to get ahold of me. :)

My cell Filmbuff is of the prepaid variety and is only turned on in the case of an emergency.I totally hate cell phones. There are places I want to be with out the bother of the phone ringing, but in the case of a flat tire last week, and I could not get lug nuts off it is indispensable.

Honestly I would cancel my cell service except for the breaking of the contract fee. I still might anyways. I don't want anyone calling or texting me anymore.

I know what you mean. My cordless phone base is in the kitchen so I will bring back the phone in my room while I am on the computer it won't ring for a long time so I will put it back on the base and about the time I sit back down at my computer desk the darn thing will start ringing.

Wee, it is soo soo good to see you here :))) you have been missed. I can not tell you how much :))) I draw the line at talking in the LOO! Nope I want to pee or poop with out interference. The president of the US could call and if I was in the LOO I am busy take a message or call me back. LMAO however my 13 year old will sit on the pot and talk for an hour. I always ask if the person he was talking to enjoyed grunts and groans!

I was babysitting and the phone was ringing and they have like 3 cordless phones, and i couldnt find a single one of them!! lol i have no idea where they were but i could hear them ringing. I bet one of the kids hid them all on me. lol smart @ss's!

Sunshine, for some reason the base of my coardless interfers with my router, which is on my desk, upper self. The router serves three other computers in the house. I had to move the base into a neutral zone..LMAO All of us fighting for bandwidth and come to find out it was the base for my phones to blame for errors. Great thought however. I do have a cored phone in case of electricity outage, but again it is located in the living room. Thats another thing. My 13 year old son will most of the time have both cordless phones hid somewhere and I have missed the call, and have to keep pressing page to find the blasted things. Thank you for the reminder of yet another rant in the brewing. :)))

cordless phone - This is an awesome phone
I forgot to add my picture of my phone. I have a cordless too, the base is on the desk with me. Mine doesn't have the answering machine part though. Just a normal base.

Lol Poor angelwhispers! i think this phenomenon can be easily explained by a very easy thing to grasp - it is called Sods law! lol I am lucky that I have a charger stand right next to me! xxx

I suppose it would come under the heading of Murphy's Law or something similar, Angel. My phone will not ring until I go to the kitchen to make a meal or get something to drink, or if I decide to make a quick bathroom run, lol. I rarely take my phone with me because I'm so absentminded that I forget and leave it where I took it.

That my dear friend I think is called murphy's law or sod's law LOL. I hope you feel better for that rant, and it's the weekend! My rant today is going into the village when the schoolkids are coming out and it's like bedlam, the police are at the station as there's always trouble after school, you see kids spitting which they think is cool amongst their friends and I hate it. Youth of today, shameful. There's my rant! Oh and if it's any consolation I hate the phone ringing full stop and would rather not have a phone. Hugs x

Wolfie, not long ago I was noticing that my son was spitting like that. I tried for awhile to ignore it but I could not. I started making him pay me a dollar every time I caught him spitting, he pretty soon realized that it was cutting into his allowance and hence his social life on the weekends. It has been a bit since I have seen that behavior from him LMAO. Thank you so much for your rant and I do feel better :))))

I do not know, but I am pretty certain our phones are conspiring against us. At our house we have unknowns, and then we have The Great Unknown. If only the name or the number is unknown, it is a simple unknown, but when caller ID says "UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN" then it is the great unknown. My other thing is it is a bill collector. They still do not know you cannot squeeze blood from a turnip. I am right in here with you on this one.

The same thing happens to us too. When ever we're in bed having a romantic moment, the phone will rin, and it will be one of is ex-wives!! The phone almost always rings when one of us is on the toilet, or when we are eating. I never did figure out what makes it do that.

Maybe there is no signal where you put it..or maybe there's just nobody around to call you at that time. Why not get much friends to have your number and tell them to call you once in a while. People sometimes just might think your busy so they don't get up the courage to call. :)

LOL that always happens doesn't it ? The other thing that always happens to me is that as soon as I am on the phone everyone else in the household needs something - ask me something, show something, bring something or even just chat LOL I have quite a few peeves, but you know what, it's friday and I'm so happy I will stay home for the whole weekend that I can't even think about one LOL

Yeah the phone ringing can be a real annoyance. You've got so many things to do and you have to walk up to the phone to pick it up only to find out that it's a telemarketer. That's why I prefer text messages, because you can reply at your convenience.

Because irony likes to show its ugly face. I too ask those questions, but all I end up doing is shaking my head in disbelief and try to shrug it off and continue my day. Just like the other day, I just couldn't help myself but scream. When I throw something in the trash can, even if I'm right next yo the trash can, and the trash can is huge, the piece of trash that I throw in seems to always miss the trash. It's like the trash just dodged the trash can even when it is right there. But when I don't want to throw something away, and that object falls down and if I'm right by the trash can, somehow that object falls right in there. Or when all I want is a a fork but all I can find is a spoon. LOL... that reminds me of Alanis's song.

Pet peeves telemarketers who phone on my cordless just as I am sitting down to eat or am in the bathroom then I go pick up the phone and hear this is a final warning that the warranty on your car is up or would you like to sell your share in condo. Now I do not have a car nor a condo and my meals getting cold. And I am kicking myself for not letting the answer machine pick it up. then when I do let the answer machine do it it always turns out to be from a friend whom I do want to talk to or a message from my doctor's office . just cannot win for losing

Ours rings only when you are far away from it. Mostly, when you are in the bathroom or trying to eat supper.

That does not happen to us. What happens is when we are expecting an important phone call, and just at the time, we should be getting that, a telemarketer or wrong number calls. It as if they know that we are expecting one of our sons, or one of my friends to call, or a relative is in town and will call us on such a such a time, and then the phone rings and it is "This is CIBC. I notice that you have a ---" Oh and here is another rant. I do not drive and when there is a special event, my friend has to pick me up, but do you know just about the time she does, I hear a car drive outside, but it is one of the neighbors going out for the evening. It happens all the time.

Aargh I hate that when it happens. I wonder if they have a sensor or something that knows when we put it back on its charger LOL I always wonder about those unknown number too and often left them. I picked it up the other day and it was family from New Zealand and they were saying how come I don't pick up the phone and I'm like then why don't you leave a message on the answer phone. Once I hear your voice I'll pick up LOL Then the next time i went to pick up an unknown number, it was a telemarketer. can't win LOL

LOL With me it's pretty quiet till I go to take a nap and then it starts ringing off the hook. I've gotten onto my friend up North so she knows not to call at certain times. I wish I could turn it off sometimes but I would worry about my Mom calling and needing me. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Maybe 'cuz you have a little "vid cam" embedded in your cordless....and it experiences withdrawal symptoms, when you are not close, so unloads a telemarketer on you...just to bring you back to it's vicinity. LOL!
