Just curious... How many of you can say the alphabet backward? That is impressive if so! I remember somewhere hearing somebody say the alphabet backward. If you can, can you even SING it backwards? That would be fun to hear what it sounds like. I can only say G-F-E-D-C-B-A, which I make sure all my music students can say also (FYI: the musical alphabet is just "A-B-C-D-E-F-G" but since sometimes notes go up or down, you have to be able to read it both ways. If you can say it backward, how did you learn?

Nope, I can't say or sing the alphabet backwards. Tried it when younger but that was many years ago. I use to be able to burp the alphabet forward..lol Now that's really impressive and works well in a crowd of well educated people at a social event. Made me the talk of the party.

I doubt I can do it anymore. Age has a way of removing very interesting ways I can entertain myself. The last time I tried, got the hiccups.

Ha ha ha, Carol. That's a talent you have that I don't share. Can you still do it? I'll have to hear a recording some time, when I feel like getting sick in my bellie, laughing! :o)

I learned in about twenty minutes. I am really good at memorization. You just group letters together. This is how I SING it (yes, I sing it, to the tune, and it works.) ZYXWVUT SRQPONM LKJ IHG FED CBA. That is how I group them. So I don't forget I sing it forwards and backwards in the shower. :)

yes. I can say that. It is all because of the typing tutorial that I have worked out some years back.. and, to increase speed in typing, I used to type for about 10 minutes daily, all the alphabets and numbers.. in lines. BLIND TOUCH. that is, without seeing either the key-board, or the screen. and, that way, i have increased my speed well, and now, I can tease anyone to tell the alphabets backwards

Hey Mr. Cheery. ;o) Wow, that's impressive! And it's an honor that you replied to a posting that I put up 3 years ago! (You can tell I haven't started up many conversations on my own lately). ;o) Thanks again; I'll have to check on you later. Good Night, Sleep Tight

I think i will practice reciting the alphabet backwards...

Oh, I am happy that I motivated others to start practicing. 'o) Lemme know if you improve. I don't know if I would have the patience to learn, unless there was a song or method.

Wow. Talented grandmother (and followers in the family) ;o) As you guys "sing" them, what tune do you use? Do you actually sing the (forwards) alphabet tune backward too? Too bad we can't post music or record the tune for us to hear. :o)

Nope, not me!But my husband's 4-year old nephew can. His mother told me that she was surprised to discover one day that her little son can not only say the alphabet backward, but he made his own little tune to go with it! I have yet to hear him sing it to me. Because whenever I go visit them, he starts getting shy on me and will just smile and be endlessly adorable.

Wow, you are talented! And that sounds even more talented, if you can do it while just thinking of the letters (instead of by memorization). I don't think I can say it by just thinking of the letters, unless maybe it takes me like 15 minutes or longer to do so. Feels like I'd have to write it down and memorize it in mini groups. Impressive.
