I have worked there for 1 1/2. I was one of the first employess there when they started so you would think I have seniority right? Well NO I was told today that my shift 7-4 M-F was being eliminated. So guess what I have to work Saturdays now. After my Sup lied to me and told me that my shift was safe. This job is extremely stressful and now I dont even have 2 days in a row off. Well when the Manager & my Sup told me this I blew a gasket. I will probably get fired on Monday but at this point I don't care. I mean yes I desparatly need the money but when push comes to shove. There really isnt alot of jobs but maybe I can find one. Id rather work a crummy shift cleaning toilets then have them treat there employees like dirt.

I am sorry you have had a bad day, seems they don't treat their staff with respect and it sounds as though they are implementing changes without approaching you first, which is a kind of treat you like a child mentality. You are a good worker so it will be their loss if you leave. But always leave under your terms preferably, so then you can get a decent reference, but on the other hand life is too short to be unhappy and as we spend most of our working lives at work why be unhappy, I hope things go well for you my friend, sending some good karma your way.

I am very sorry. What a shame. It is a sad fact that employees are generally not valued anymore. There is always someone they can find to replace you. Younger, willing to work for less. And alot of the time managers will fib to keep from having a scene. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and you will not lose your job. Good luck, keep us posted.

my dear friend, i am sorry to hear whats happened with you at this moment. i know the decission which put you to change your shift is really uncomfortable for you. but in my opinion. it would be better if you try to hold your position and work at this moment while you looking for another job. you said that you need money right? so why don't you be patient a little while you find another. it would be great if you quit from one job and you already having another one rather than you haing nothing after quit job. but all decission in your hands. you know which one better for your own goodness. just try to consider all of factors related, in my opinion. chhhhheeeerrrssss!

While I feel bad that your shift was changed, if you've only worked there for a year and a half, that's really not seniority.
The last place I worked for someone else was over 2 years ago--they laid off TWO people there with over 20 years of experience. I worked there 4 1/2 years when they laid me off--with 15 hours notice. My friend Brian was there 20 years when he was told....and because he was officially 2nd shift, he wasn't expected to stay the week and left immediately...I wasn't and my supervisor actually said to me when she was leaving, "See you tomorrow!" really cheerful like.
I'm going to tell you right now--BE HAPPY YOU HAVE A JOB! I have been forced to dumb myself down to try to find a job (I have a 2-year degree and am going for my 4-year now). I'm overqualified to make and sell bagels (or anything else). There are not a lot of jobs out there...just work your job and be grateful--this recession is going to get a lot worse before it ever gets better. Good luck.

I am saddened to hear that you are being treated so wrong..I am sure if their jobs were eliminated they would be just as mad as you are...Did your sup lie to you on purpose or were they just passing on information that someone told them? Nobody should treat anyone this way..I hope everything works out for you....

I am sooo sorry to here about this situation. You will need to let us know how it went today. Like most have said companies today DONT value their employees. If this is the case and you are that mad about the situation (which I would be) start looking for a new job. It is definitely easier to find a job when you have one then it is to find one when you dont. I would consider all of my options and determine what is best for you. Good luck and let us know how it went.

What type of work do you do? I take it you mean you've been there 1 1/2 years? Is this a small business or a larger corporate type of business? if larger talk to some one higher up in the corporate ladder about this situation. If a small bussiness or family business you may be out of luck basically. Good luck comes Monday also.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi there! I'm really sorry to hear about what happened. You're right. It's better to have a more difficult job than be treated like that. I guess the problem is that most employers doesn't value the years and the work that employees contributed to their company right. I wish that you'd find the right job for you, the one that you deserve. God bless.

I agree - if you still have a job Monday and can stand the job a little while longer, I'd find another job before you quit. Jobs aren't as easy to find as they used to be. Depends on where you live, of course. Workers aren't valued as much as they used to be. On the other hand, the average length of time at a job has decreased dramatically. The workplace sure isn't what it used to be. Good luck to you either way!

Sounds like you work for the government like I do. I had this very same thing happen to me.
I was one of the first 53 employees hired for this contract I am working on and we were promised seniority and first dibs at shift preferences but because I am out on a comp issue they gave my shift away and told me I will be forced to work 10AM-7PM instead of the 7AM-4Pm I have worked every M-F for the past almost 4 years.
I'm not going back until April but I know I am going to blow a gasket too.
And this may be little comfort but most companies fire people on Fridays so they have a chance to cool off over the weekend and don't come in blowing people up during the work week.
