Our daughter has been struggling in school with not being able to pay close attention to detail. It occurred to my husband that maybe we are missing something from our diet, some nutrient that promotes brain function. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for fresh foods that may help out with this?

As well as providing nutritious food for your daughter, you need to make sure she is not consuming too much sugery or high carbohydrate foods, as they can cause lack of concentration. Also drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps to keep the mind alert. Even being slightly dehydrated can cause lack of attention.

I heard once that eating fish and eating walnuts are good for staying focused. I am not sure if it really works or not though.

There are several foods that will boost energy and give the brain a little more focus. One is the cereal Total. This will seem crazy but the day I tried Total cereal I was actually more focused and full of energy. I was able to focus for up to about 5 hours or so.
Another food that will do it is fresh fruits, if you make a fruit salad in the morning and include grapefruit it will increse energy and give the brain a boost. This has worked for me, so it should work for you and your family.
