It will largely depend who is asking for it. If the fellow is known to me and something to do with my day to day work or is my friend, I do not mind sharing my phone number with him/her.

I'd usually give my mobile number but not my home phone number unless it was a very close friend or it was a company or my childs school that needed it. On a mobile you can see who is calling and if it comes up private number they can leave a message if you choose to ignore. Ellie :D
