I don't usually download illegally. The only time I ever really do that is if there's no way I can get it in real life (like a french tv show tune. Where am I going to find a cd with the french pokemon theme song? ...)
As far as freeware goes, I LOVE freeware (most of the time). Sometimes it's crap but it's free so I don't mind.
Shareware..meh..depends on the conditions. I think I've only ever had one shareware and I ended up uninstalling it after an hour.

Truthfully, I am an Avid Seeder/Leecher. I still buy software from time to time, but some things are just way to expensive for no reason! I use lots of Freeware though but I cant get away from the rush of downloading normally expensive software/Music/Games/Movies/E-books/Etc. I will tell you about a story that happened to my friend. He had multiple servers and set up scripts to leech everything off of DL Sites and had TB's of Data. He was Raided by the FBI and was jailed/Is still paying fines. I was even contacted my Lucasarts Legal Team for DL'ing and they threatened to shut down my internet and bring me to court, needless to say I wrote a letter of apology and immediately stopped any DL'S I had AND MAN was it scary.
