This morning I heard something that took me back to when my Dad was alive and really into his CB radio. He was so into it that even though I was married he bought me one for one of my birthdays and he got me hooked on it as well! I'll never forget...his handle was Big Wind because he talked so much...lol...and he gave me Brown Eyes as a handle. He even got my mother to go to some of the "eyeballs"..lol...that's a get together of cb'ers....We would meet at local McDonald's or Burger Kings and hang out and just have a great time! When my Dad passed away we couldn't believe how many of his "good buddies" came to the wake and funeral and even kept in touch with my Mom after he was gone.
Were you into the CB craze? Do you remember what your handle was if you were? Did you know anyone who was into it?

10-4 good buddy. This is the Lady Rancher here, over. hahaha Good ole days. We used to belong to a club called the Coffee Break Club and had get together's often at a steak house. One year we went to a jamboree in Oklahoma and had a blast. We had a convoy of 4 cars of people who went from Texas to Okla. We even took our kids and they had such a good time, there were many children there and so many things for all ages to enjoy. We found out that CB'ers were such helpful people also. We had so much getting together with other people with cb's from all over that we got back and our CB club started putting together a jamboree, it took some time and many sponsors and a lot of hard work but we pulled it off and had a really good turn out, not as big as the one in Okla. but very good sized for a first time jamboree.
We later got a big base station for the home and was able to hook up with people from other countries at times.
Like I said, those were the good ole days.
Have a good one and keep all 4 wheels on the ground.

No I didn't have a CB but we did have the record Convoy. And we enjoyed the movie Smokey And The Bandit.

I was a kid but my father sure was into it. We had such fun listening to the calls and trying to identify them all. We did a lot of cross the country traveling and the cb helped to break up the monotony for my brother and I.... I remember once listening to a conversation between two truckers - one's handle was tutti-fruity and the other went by ben-gay
oh my!

LOL! Your mention of cb's, ctry, dredges up memories of the time when my next door neighbor had one that used to seriously interfere with my TV programs sometimes. His cb use caused me to utter many an unladylike phrase at the time. That is about the limit of my experience with them. I'm glad you have those pleasant memories of the times you shared with your dad and cb's.

Oh yes we did. I loved listening to others talking on it. It was a good way to chat wth people and to make some new friends. We bought an RV about 5 years ago and it still had a CB radio in it, so we tried to use it to contact some people, but since very few people use them anymore, we never found anyone so we had no one to talk to over it. I guess there are few people left out there, that use them anymore. We just ended up taking it out of the RV because it just ook up too much room on the dash.

I remember my dad running a cb line all the way up to the top of the hill so that we could have a base in the home. We also had one in our big Blazer. My handle was Little Slugger.
The story about your dad reminds me of the song Teddy Bear. Do you remember that one?

My dad and two brothers did and they'd converse back and forth with each other and others on the road. It was pretty neat to watch although I could barely make out what they were saying. My brother was Tennis shoe Tim and my other brother was Chatterbox. Tim had a small car or rather a tiny car and he's almost 6 ft tall, someone had made a comment about him getting out of a shoe box so that's how he got his name. Kevin was a chatterbox, he could not and would not shut up!! LOL So his nickname was the obvious, chatterbox. lol

No, never did. My dad had a few.. but I don't really know why. I don't ever remember him making use of it for anything.
