A lot of people say America isn't ready for a female president. I think that we are, we're just done with the Clintons and the Bushes. What America needs is a leader like Margaret Thatcher in the White House.

Secretary of State Rice would be President if she chose to run. She has more brains, more respect, and is more qualified than anyone in either party running for the job.

Yes, she is, and I'd vote for over any of the current candidates.

Please stop and think about what you are saying. Margaret Thatcher did more lasting damage to the UK than any Prime Minister before her. Only Tony Blair was worse. She killed our industry by turning us into a service economy from which we have not recovered. She became so remote from the populace that she became more regal than the Queen. We had a joke during her "reign". Why is a £1 coin like Maggie T? Because it's thick, brassy, and thinks it's a sovereign (£1 1 shilling in pre-decimalisation coinage). Her stance on the Falklands was right, I would not argue with that (it also saved her from almost certain election defeat). Her son became an international fugitive, heck even his Texan wife left him, and her daughter is, heaven only knows what. Her main claim to fame is winning celebrity game shows on TV. Do you really want that for the US. No you are going to be so much better off with Obama, until he goes off the rails too. It doesn't matter who you vote for, the Government always get in.

All of that is arguable. What isn't is that she stood up for what she thought was right and who she was... She never whined and cried about how hard it is to be her, just to get a few pity votes.

If I was a US citizen I would vote Obama. I vote Conservative here (mostly). I have a general cynicism and skepticism about politics and politicians. I have worked closely with a few and without exception, of whatever party, I have never met one that I would trust for more than 5 minutes not to change his or her views if it were expedient to do so. Most I think go into politics with high principles and good motives. But something happens to them whilst they are there and they lose touch with the folk that put them there. The worst cases develop a contempt, a "I know better" attitude, and that was what happened to Thatcher (who I did vote for first time round). I love a bit of controversy so thanks for the discussion.

So, with your general cynism towar politicians, what makes you think Obama is any different than the rest of them?

Their are some great women of Conservatism, like Ann Coulter, Laura Schlessinger, Melanie Morgan, or Laura Ingraham. Any of this women would be better than Clinton, Obama, or McRino. I have alway felt that America would elect a woman if she was a conservative.

With the economy going into a recession, the Chinese taking down our market share all over the planet and the invasion of Mexicans over our southern border I will support anyone who can get into office and stop our country from going to the dogs. Lets yank our troops out of Iraq and put them on the border with Mexico (same shoot to kill policy except they all speak Spanish) and put the money back into the American economy so Americans can have American jobs again. Women. African American. Man. Alien from Mars. At this point, I personally don't care.

It's too bad we don't have a candidate running on that platform.
