How's the local music scene around you?

We're getting fairly dead around here, as most of our bands are either getting signed to labels off who-knows-where or laying down the instruments in trade for family life.
Omaha, NE, however, has an awesome scene. Too bad it's a 4-6 hour drive. :(

Here in Kansas City, it is quite active. There are alot of great bands from all genres that play all the time down in Westport, which is basicly the part district around herre. Definitely worth a weekend trip if you ask me! :)
