wow.. is that USD 2 millions? I don't think it will be that much. My sis traveled around Europe with just less than 5000 Pounds. The trick is to plan carefully. With the emergence of budget airlines everywhere, traveling is so much cheaper now. Also, some land transportation, like trains and buses do offer great deals and you can travel at night to save accomodation cost (you can sleep in the planes, trains or buses)
Also, on accomodation wise, there are a lot of budget hotels which gives you a great deal. You pay as what you use. Places like in Japan or developed countries, they have 4/5-star hotel and 2-star price. The rooms are small, no doubt, but it comes with a comfy queen/king size bed, a power shower, everything you need in a 4/5-star hotel. But they will charge you as what you use, like your air-con and hot water.
Check out all the details before you fly. One great website that you can use to check out on the various airlines (including budget airlines) is www.dohop.com

Yea, i think thats 2 million $, alot of cash to blow on traveling. I agre, you can get around the world very cheap if you just know where to look. I feel that if choosing between to sleep on a bus/airplane/train or in a hotel/motel then id choose the first option. Since you sleep while you travel, you dont se so much the landscape of the country but you can travel much longer stretches than when staying at motels/hotels.
If i remember correctly, you can also take some trains that have beds on board, for more comfortable sleep. Personally id choose it, i dont like to sleep in a sitting position so a bed is a welcoming sight.
Also, you dont need to just take budget airlines, you can also try to get some last minute tickets, they are usually very cheap and you majbe could get a first class for the price of an economy class ticket.

It depends on which country you begin your trip in, like London and New York have good airfares on Round the World routings. Then it depends on the likely budget you need in the different countries you are going to. The USA has high medical bills so travel insurance to cover this might be necessary if you are going there. Traveling as a couple you could stay in cheap guest houses or budget hotels. Camping in some places in another alternative.
I think in my country a Round the World airfare might be about £1500. I would allow £50 per day for accommodation, food and excursions. Plus I would take £2 000 extra just in case. These likely figures are for each person. Good luck choosing your route around the world.
