luck with relationships

My friend divorced her husband a few years back due to domestic violence. She's been so traumatized with her marriage that she didn't date for a while. An old friend comes to keep her company and she just enjoyed it. Her friend was nice to her so she hooked up with him but early on he was already showing signs of violence and possessiveness. My friend is now recalling her traumatic marriage experience. She's crumbled into a state of fear again. Poor friend, she seems to feel that she's really has no luck with guys.
Do you have suggestions I can extend to her? I'm at a lost for words of advice right now. I don't know how to perk up her battered spirits.

I really think she is not lucky enough with her relationships.I do not know whether there is something as advice in this case. may be she should have a clear talk with the guy now and make a bold face saying she would leave if this continues.

Just being there for her is more than she can ever ask for. Even if a word is never spoken, just you being there holding her hand to let her know that you're there no matter what is what she needs. In time maybe you can explain that not all men are dogs but for now just be there for her.
