all we think right now is how to make money and making ends meet or some specially the youngsters is how to make money to spend it on their wants rather than their needs. And for some , they bother themselves complaining how the world is treating them so unfairly.let us just forget all these things for the moment and reflect the simple things that makes us smile, even for a while. think of some things that makes us feel good, even for a while. i will share you mine. drinking my coffee on one lazy afternoon and enjoying everything that is free to us, the sweet smell of fresh air, birds playing, watching the clouds on a blue sky and thanking that i have all along along and because of these, it reminds me that life is not all about survival, it is all about living.

I enjoy going to the beach and there I could collect shells, enjoy the sun and water, go snorkeling or maybe ride a boat and go island hopping enjoy the scenery and landscape as we pass along the islands...that's my simple pleasure I can only enjoy in the summer. Simple but really is a refreshing one for me.

mine was to walk at parks.. smell the trees and feel the air on my face as it blows counter my direction.. it is really a wonderful feeling, to breathe fresh air.. to appreciate the colors of the trees, flowers and sky...
i love stargazing. i love the sky, its color... the stars at night... listen to music on my ears and feel lucky that i have life...

I have always loved to escape into my novels and imagine myself among the characters. It's my escape and therapy in this crazy world. Maybe its one of the reasons why I have never suffered depression because I live in the different and dreamy world. LOL! I also love to drink coffee with my sister and mother and just chat with them in one lovely afternoon. I also love to play with my children in the pool with the rest of our cousins. I also love to cook while they watch a DVD movie I just rented or bought and then have some of my cousins drop by to taste what new poison I have concocted. They are the things that I have always looked forward too every weekends and holidays. They are simple pleasures but they make my life so wonderful.

My simple pleasures are...
To read a book and find a world of wonder in it..
To drink coffee, because its energetic flow is beautiful to me..
And to see people smile, I dont think there is anything more special, than to see a person smile a real grin...

Well, for me, something like a really lazy weekend in my pajamas sitting in front of my computer drinking my coffee and watching some meaningful DVDs would be something that makes me really happy and relaxed. Actually, you know what? Come to think of it, it doesn't really take that much for me to smile!

Reading is one of them, I enjoy passing the time by simply slumping down on the couch making my mind travel for a while as I imagine myself being on the places that were mentioned from the books I am reading.
I also enjoy playing the guitar, especially when I am getting emotional for that very moment.
These are just some of what I do, whenever I want to enjoy the simple pleasures I have in life.

my simple pleasures are as the following. Reading. One of my most favorite things to do is lose myself in a great book. Another simple pleasure of mine is looking at my children when they smile. Seeing them smiling or laughing is just a great way to allow my whole heart sing. Rather they are smiling or laughing because of something i did, or because they are watching a movie or with each other having a good time. Knowing that for that moment, they are at peace is a simple pleasure I enjoy most of all

that is the assurance that we all need that our love ones are happy in themselves. i agree, watching them kids laughing and having fun makes us feel very good!

My simple pleasures are...
1) Coming on myLot to discuss things...
2) Watching movies on DVDs.
And you are quite right.
Life is all about living.
If you struggle to survive... you don't have a life.
But living requires you to appreciate the simple things in life. If you need to take a trip around the world every year and stay in the most expensive hotels... you don't know what living is all about. You are just kidding yourself.
If you rewind 60 years... almost nobody was travelling. There were no technology in your home. Not even a television. And people were happier. There were no depression or anxiety.

for some , their simple pleasures are living a plush hotel of some sorts but for us mortals simple pleasures are the most simple form of enjoyment!

Wow. Yes, I do agree that what occupies the mind most of the time is about making and spending money (especially when one doesn't make much or have much of it to spend). You caught my mind full of it at the moment, actually.:P Anyways, I do stop to smell the flowers in between my constant brainstorming about wealth building. A happy memory can make my day. A relaxing nap, a simple text message, or a funny story heard can cheer me up. I'm not hard to please and I find the beauty in the worst of situations. I try to maintain an optimistic attitude about everything, and it has made me resilient over the years. So yes, I do live-- to the fullest, at that. Thanks for this discussion. :)

How nice Tiger. Yes...a fresh cup of coffee is always one of my best companion too.I used to be pretty hard on myself. My brain was always functioning and simply refused to shut down.
I always have this thing on my head that whenever I thought of some lucrative business, everything should be planned accordingly. Details by details. Not one marks should be left unattended. I always go for the full measures and not half measures only.
It just came to a point when everything seems to inflame my whole system. It took me ages to realize that I should learn how to slow down a bit and to give myself a time to focus on my surrounding. This certainly helps to reduce the stresses and anxieties.

Mine are sitting out in my garden in the summer watching my children play. Hearing my baby laugh. Also reading a good book just losing myself in it. Enjoying a nice long soak in a bubble bath.

Well, right now I'm watching my cat who is watching the birds outside our sliding glass window to our balcony. She is acting like she is about to sneek up on her prey... watching so intently & hunching down to hide from the birdies! It is so cute to watch her... just like she was in the wild and her instincts are kicking in. We just recently put out 2 new bird feeders plus a hummingbird feeder yesterday. I can't wait until the hummingbirds find the feeder... they are such amazing creatures! :) Does anyone else love to watch hummingbirds?

My simple pleasure is to sit under the sun listening the bird singing and feeling breeze touching my cheek. Simple pleasure need no money, fame or fortune. It depends on yourself. The rich is not always happy and the poor is not always sad.

My simple pleasure is to watch tv with my family. I don't know but it releases the stresss inside my body and tension too. Because when watching i got the chance to watch my favorite movie or tv show and i got the chance to talk to them as well. To laugh at them and to joke at them sometimes.

Nice input. We can really live a simple life. We just make it more complicated, because sometimes we can not be contended. Being contended with what we have will make life a lot simpler. For me, having a good sleep and being able to wake up each day, and having a quiet and peaceful day are my simple pleasures. Sometimes just watching comedy on tv or singing on karaoke in my bedroom lighten and brighten my day.

I like very much as you said, life it's about living, not survival.Or struggle.Unfortunately,i realised this too late in my life.I'd like to walk in the woods and forrests and enjoy the peace of quiet moments, but only when i reminded me this things, because sometimes , with the crazy world in my mind, i forgott to do it.
