I have been out of a job for about 6 months now and I have the opportunity to take a job where my sister works. I am not sure how much it pays right now and I am conserned that they will not be able to pay me enough to pay my bills. There is plenty of opportunity for over time in April, May and June. And there is another role that I can do that I would be paid for each time. I am not sure if that will get me to where I need to be either. But I really cant wait for another job to pop up. So I think I am going to take this job and PRAY that I get the job and get enough to at least get by. I will definitly need to find some way to make extra money (selling stuff, mylot ect.) and hope that is enough to pay my bills and get me out of debt. What would you do if you were in my situation?

As a single parent, can't you get any help to top up your income? I don't know how it works in US but we in UK can get tax cerdits to make our income up to enough to live on if we have a low income.

See I am a single parent and I worry that I will not be able to feed, cloth and house my child. I dont want to be homeless because of this STUPID economy. Thank you for the support though.

If I was in that situtation, which I kinda am, I would take the job. Right now a job is better then no job and at least having some income. If worse comes to worse you can always look for a better paying job after awhile.

Yes that is what I am going to do. I just feel like I am failing if I take a job that doesnt pay enough for the bills.

I would take the any job I was offered but continue to look elsewhere. At least if you do that, you will be earning something and gaining more experience. If you wait until something better comes along, it might not or you may be turned down because you have been out of work for a long time. Usually, getting a job is easier if you already have one.
I've been looking for a job, most of them are minuimum wage but I will take the first one I can do.

I haven't had that problem but my sister has. I think it's really unfair that they can say you're "too" qualified. Surely, if you have those qualifications it doesn't mean you can't do a "lesser" job. My mum's a qualified nursery nurse but works as a caretaker.
Just stick at it, try whatever you can find. Someone will hopefully admire your perseverance and motivation eventually!

Thank you for the support. Unfortunately I went to the job interview and the guy who was interviewing me had NO intention on hiring me. He said that I was TOO qualified and that this was a warehouse job.

As the others said, at least you will have some money coming in if you take this job now, which is better than your current situation. If you continue to "wait for something better," your debts are just going to get worse and you will need to earn even more money to pay them off. Better to start working now and do your best to cut back on your spending in the meantime.
Good Luck.

If you have no type of income, then the best recourse is to take what ever job you can take. In this case its the one, with your sister. The fact that you take it, does not mean you cannot continue searching for one that fits you better.. but you do need to eat and pay for your necessities.. So you gotta get what you can, to begin with.

Yes that is my thinking exactly. I just get worried about money. I am not that good with it and wish that there was a better way for me to budget without all the hassles. Maybe that would help and I could live off that money. Not that a budget will help me live better but balancing all the bills and stress will help tremendously.
