Another Sneaky Bill Passed

I recently discovered that our government has signed a new bill without informing the people. This bill is interchangeable with both America and Canada, allowing for the intervention of armed forces from either country to be called in during a crisis. Of course this begs the question, what events do they foresee coming that would create a need for such a bill to be enacted? Furthermore, it has never been explained exactly what the purpose of the encampments that are being built(and have been for some time now), are there for. Do they see major civil unrest occurring? Is anyone other than myself curious about these developments?

At the very least, carmelanirel, a step toward a unified American continent. If things go according to plan we should soon be switching to a new currency called the Amero.

This wasn't a bill at all.
It is the Civil Assistance Plan and it was signed by two generals, one from the US and one from Canada.
Here is the link... http://www.northcom.mil/News/2008/021408.html
The big question is was this even legal and allowed under the Constitution.
As far as I know, the military cannot sign treaties. It was my understanding that either the President or the State Department was who signed treaties, and that they had to go through Congress first.
Something like this would be very handy if any president decided to declare martial law and thought there might be a problem with the military firing on our own people... but I am probably being overly suspicious.
I do detect an odor in this however.

Well, Destiny, I do have a problem with it. Decisions that are so important to the people of any country should be made ONLY after the issues are laid out before the people.

well I am canadian not american, so I can only venture a guess,
homeland security, terrorists infiltrating and waging war or unrest on either country

i said I ventured a guess, as to why this was done
and from that how can you infer what my personal views are,
you do not know whether I have a problem with government secrecy or not.
as a matter of fact I do,
it is undemocratic it,

I take it then, winterose, that you have no problem with the idea that this was all done in secrecy, not put before the people who these governments are supposedly there to serve.

I hear many voices about possible Bush willing to claim Marshall Law....if we thank about recession, global warming, who knows what can be in front of us...
I can not wait for Bush to leave White House.

I see, polachicago, that you are among those of us who are unwilling to remain ignorant as to what is going on behind the closed doors of our government.

Whose to say, catjane, that Canada itself is not full of terrorists? Think about it.

If the US citizens keep electing people like Bush then the country is going to be in trouble.
If the US citizens declare a revolution the government needs back up. Although they are revolting, I doubt the US military will kill US citizens because the government told them to do it.
The bill isn't to protect the US citizens so why should we have a say in it? It is to protect the government that is why they didn't include us.

I have to add this.
There may be a natural disaster that may leave either country vulnerable. Therefore the back up would be necessary to prevent hostile take over.

Then I already stated the answer.

Then, why not put it before the people, coolseeds, rather than sign it into law in secrecy?

Hi Worldwise! I can see major unrest coming in the future as water resources in the western United States dry up. We are getting more and more people and less and less water and food to take care of them. Also, the US dollar is going down in value, so that people can not buy as much food and other things with US dollars anymore.

According to what I hear, albert, the dollar is going to be phased out soon anyway. It is supposed to be replaced by a currency that will be called the Amero. I think we have been deceived for a long time about what is actually in store for both America and Canada.

What kind of bill was it? In our country Bills are done and given on a state of the nation address but they are already passed as I know. I would like to answer you on your queerie but I have no idea of what bill you are talking about if you could've just put it in your discussion so I can relate.

Sorry, p3halliwel, but I don't have the number of the bill, but I'm sure that anyone interested in finding it could look it up. I found out about this bill just as I did a couple of other bills that had been secretly signed into law, from a reliable source.

I worry about what our country would consider a threat. At least in the States, you will think of some evil terrorist ala Invasion USA starting Chuck Norris, coming all the way from Cuba, but in Canada, they will think those who do not agree with our Liberal Agenda as a threat. So this sort of worries me. I do not mind if our government armies go after a terrorist group that intends to do the same thing that they did at 911 or blow up schools and massacre people, but to go after those who disagree peaceably, that I do not like.

Therein lies the rub, suspenseful. We have no way of knowing just what they would consider a crisis situation.

Hi W-wise! Yet another sneak attack from the Bush admin. I'm thinking it might have something to do with security for the highway that Bush is having built from Mexico to Canada right through the heartland of America. I'd much rather have Canadians working with us than the Mexicans who generally despise us. But it does peizz me off that there was no mention of this bill publicly. Any chance you have a link to this new bill? I'd like to read it. Thanx in advance.

I myself feel like there will be a major unrest if the government keeps doing things that involve us and not telling us. Also could be a possibilty of a whole bunch of sleeper cells of terrorist will awake and we will have battle on our own land. It would not suprise me that the government knows something but wont tell us because they dont panic stricken people running all over. I do believe that it wont be long before the stuff is going to hit the fan. Im prepared and loaded to the hilt! Jimmy

Yes, wjimmy, things seem to be getting more and more cloaked in secrecy with our government. I don't like the idea of a government that is not accountable to the people one bit.

What the- What's so terribly worrying about this? So you think everything is fine and peachy. Okay, well, maybe you're right, but does it really hurt if we have a little backup just in case? Would you rather America and Canada get into a war with each other? We all know that America would win because we would just send Oprah and Rosie O'Donald up there to strip dance, causing the population of Canadia to spontaniously combust. Eventually, the ensuing fire would light Rosie and Oprah and America would be all the better for the loss of such annoying celebrities and America would be considered a world power. So really, you're better off as is. Don't complain.

What's so worrying about this, Piggy, is the fact that we are relinquishing our freedom bit by bit, and, in case you have not heard, that doesn't bode well for any of us.
