My red eared slider died.. got another one.. but no luck with him too!

I had bought a red eared slider for my aquarium, it was extremely active and i used to feed him the fish food pellets.. he wasnt eating anything else.. but after about 10 days i found him dead in the tank:(
after a few days i got another one.. which was even more active, but this one also cudnt survive more than a few days..
i really love turtles but now i m too scared to keep one. i dont want to be the reason for their death!
can anyone advice me how to make my tank safer for them?

What all did you have in the tank? Was there a dock for them to get out of the water? Did you have a filter system in the tank? Also, the food could have something to do with it since you were feeding them fish food and not turtle food. There are a lot of things that could have contributed to their deaths. My daughter use to have two until we put them into the pond out side and they escaped and ran away.
