Just ordered pizza for dinner and thought who gets the delivery charge - the delivery person or the company? Does anyone know? I certainly hope the delivery person gets it since it is their vehicle that they are using.

I would think that the delivery charge goes to help pay the delivery person salary. They really do not make that much considering how much gas they use to drive around. My husband worked for dominos years ago. They paid $8 + tips and that was when gas was like 0.97./gallon. I don't think the people now get paid much more, maybe $12 or $13.

That's what I heard the going rate for a delivery person was. Thanks.

I think the $12 is what they make per hour, regardless of what they are doing. The service charge here varies from place to place, average is $1. We try to order form places that do not have a service charge - which is the local pizza/italian places.

It really varies. Some companies pay the person, and some keep the money, and use it to pay the employee. If you read some of the sites around the net, you find delivery people don't make all that much really. Some end up paying to go to work when all's said and done.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be a delivery person unless it was the last job I could find.
I always make sure I tip these people also.

I don't know if I am right or not... but I think the company does...
But I do know that our local domino's... the drivers get paid so much a mile for using their own vehicles!

It really all depends on which pizza place we are talking about. I have delivered for a pizza place that added an extra 2$ on to each pizza and thats what I was paid...whatever was extra. I got the tips as well. With some of the larger chains they get paid well above minimum wage and get to keep the tips.

I think both of them get the delivery charge. Though the vehicle they are using are themselves, they work for the company. The company will pay the delivery person a basic salary with a commission from which he has delivered.
