Personally, I love Elijah. He went through the personal challenges that are similar to my own life. In his fear he tried to run away from the object of his fear, and when he became exhausted from running, he became hopeless and drepressed. But God watches over him and feeds him and renews his strength. That happens over and over in my life so I really identify.

in the old testament i like job because inspite of the painful suffering,he held on firmly to God and God blessed him double times. In the new testament i like Paul, because first he used to attack and torture the christians, but once he came to know about Jesus.he went boldy proclaiming the word of God.

Paul felt he was the "chief of sinners". There are times in every Christian's life, I think, when we think that no one could be yuckier and dirtier than anyone ever was. I used to tell a friend of mine that I felt like "pond scum". When Paul was confronted by Christ and his life was changed, he was bold to show his thankfulness and share the wonder of what happened to him. We should all be as grateful for our redemption through the gift of Christ.

I really like Peter...his personality is much like mine. He exudes great faith and makes big statements about his belief at times. Then soon after, he finds himself and his faith challenged and doesn't follow through. Like for example, saying Jesus is the Christ, then denying him.

Peter is also, after his denial, a wonderful example of how Jesus forgives us and draws us back into His loving arms, comforting us and banishing our shame, reminding us that He still loves us. After the resurrection, Christ reminds Peter that He knows about Peter's love by asking Peter to repeat it three times. The repetition is not because Jesus is unsure but because it causes Peter to be reassured that Jesus never stopped loving him, and He never held anger against Peter, because Jesus knew his true heart.

I cannot just give just one, I suppose Abraham because he was the father of many nations, Moses because he led his people from slavery to the promised land, Noah because he was our second ancestor after God destroyed all those horrible people in the flood, and Peter and Paul because they were the first ones to do heavy duty preaching. It seems I have a tendency to like Godly Bible Characters who are into travel and spread the gospel. I feel sorry for those people who know not Christ, and who are suffering because of it, those who like the Indians down in South America who have to kill their babies because they are twins, etc. or those Chinese women who are forced to abort their babies.

You have a good heart. It is the job of Christians to spread the good news about Christ, and when the gospel spreads the right kinds of behaviors will come about among the people of the world. It is good, for example, that many couples are able to adopt unwanted Chinese or South American children because of organizations (Christian and otherwise) that go in an rescue the mothers before they are forced to abort. I understand why you find it hard to pick one hero. I feel differently about different characters on different days, depending on what sort of example I need to apply.

hey all~ hurm, this is a toss up for me, between Job and Peter... Job: reminds me that no matter how bad it gets, that it could be worse, and reminds me that God can see me thru! Peter: he's edgy, spontaneous, ground breaking....all things I can identify with in my own life! ~j

Job's persistence is surely an encouragement for all of us. I like Peter because he was so intent on showing his love for Jesus, but he shows us that we can fall even when we THINK we are strong, yet Jesus keeps right on loving us.

Besides Jesus, Paul is my favorite character. I really appreciate him for boldness to do the right, undergo any trouble, and dared to correct Mr. Peter.

Paul was very ambitious and zealous in everything he did in life, both before and after he was met by Christ. He shows us that God can use our best qualities to His advantage and our own blessings.

Jesus is my favorite. He suffered more than we will ever know, even before he was put to the cross. He also never made a sound when they were hurting him, so I always remember his pain and suffering and that makes my pain less. He was a gentle soul, a loving man, an honest man, a compassionat man, and many more things. He was the light, the good shepherd, he is the way, he is the king. Warmly, Shmily9444
