I am a Christian too and I firmly believe that I am on my way to heaven. Eternity is a difficult concept for us to imagine because we are created beings whereas God is eternal. According to the Bible God wants everyone to repent of their sins and not perish in hell. I believe he is very merciful and if he can find a way to keep someone out of hell without taking away their freedom of choice, he will. He has ways we cannot even imagine.

I believe this, too--and that is the message that Jesus was wanting to get across in the story of The Good Shepherd who had 99 sheep safe in the fold but one little lamb lost out in the wild.
The Good Shepherd didn't think, "Oh well! I have 99 sheep, and that's enough! I'm not wasting any more time on this troublesome lamb!"
The sheep in the fold, likewise, didn't think, "Why are you wasting your time on that good-for-nothing delinquent of a lamb? You have all of us!"
Instead, they waited for The Good Shepherd to bring home the little lost lamb and rejoiced with Him!!!
As for references to hell you might find in scripture, this shows what it's like to alienate yourself from God.
In a sense, the prodigal son ended up in hell. He went out and squandered his life until he reached the lowest point--and, then, he began to appreciate the good parts of being with his father, started missing those times, and even thought that it was too late to get them back again and he would have to settle just for having a kind of second-fiddle place on his dad's estate. He went back to see if he could even swing that--and was amazed when his dad restored him fully to what he had been and, then, even gave him a big welcome home party so he would know how glad his dad was to have him back!

I love those parables. They give such a vivid picture of
God's love.

Being a NONChristian, I dont believe in Heaven or Hell in the sense that you are talking...I am a firm believer in reincarnation and when all is said and done as far as reincarnation goes we work our way up the spirit ladder you could say to eventually return to energy (for lack of a better way to put it) and back into the Universal Source (Bondye for me)

(Fortunately, both Heaven and Hell are made-up places, so this conversation doesn't really matter past discussing a hypothetical)
Being in Heaven while knowing that any of your loved ones were in Hell, and there was nothing you could do to help them, would be Hell for me anyway. Also, all descriptions of "Heaven" in the Bible are basically 'you will be with God praising him for all eternity'. That doesn't sound like much fun to me, lol. Isn't it enough that we're apparently supposed to be worshipping and praising him our entire lives here on Earth? And now we're supposed to be doing that just to get the CHANCE to do it MORE, forever? What's up with that?

I dont believe in anything, have my own feelings about things, but in this situation i would most defonitly choose heaven, as i am sure the people are ncier there, because you are only let in if you are nice =] or something like that,

I believe heaven or hell is not our destination, is not our future. Heaven and hell is here, in our present world. Human created heaven and hell. I we have a good and positif thinking, it means we create heaven ourselves. Heaven and hell originate from our mind. Our last destination is God himself.

Okay...I'm really probably going to start something here and I truly don't mean to because I know that much of the world is Christian. But, me, personally...I don't believe there is a heaven or hell. I agree with one of the other members that it's something humankind created. I'm a Spiritualist. I believe in reincarnation. I believe in Karma. And I really am convicted that we reincarnate until we reach a certain level of maturity regarding our soul. Anyway, those are my thoughts. I definitely don't want to debate reincarnation and heaven and hell. I think as long as a person has a belief, that's what's important. So, in answer to your question...I don't believe my soul's gonna hang out for eternity somewhere...it's not something I worry about.
