My daughter is climbing on & getting into everything...it is time for a playpen! I used to have a Graco Pack N Play...I liked it except it was a challenge to snap together & apart - this one was probably from the year 2000, maybe even sooner. I am seeing Evenflo & Cosco also make them...I generally like Graco more than the others, but am not sure what I want to get or if they've gotten better over the years...
Any reccomendations? Anything besides these that I might not be aware of that are good for confining a crawling baby to one space?
Thanks in advance!!

I don't think a playpen is really necessary. I used a graco pack n play as a portable crib. My son slept in it when we went camping and when we were away from home.
What I did was completely baby proof one room in my home. The living room. It is central and I could see in from the kitchen and bedroom. My son was able to move around freely, and I was able to let him play without constantly telling him No. I put up gates to keep him from wandering out of the room, and he was able to climb and cruise around and he had a great time.
A play yard will be easier, but only for a short time. Soon he will not be happy being so confined and will not want to be in it.

Sorry, I was thinking of my son. I should have said 'she.'

i like these bouncy exersaucers too...but the pediatrician told me they are awful for the kids...she is such a strong little baby, I think she is going to be walking in no time - she is already climbing on everything & standing while holding onto something...i've never seen anything like it with a 6 month old! Most kids are barely crawling!

there are things that are like baby gates that circle around where you would like to keep your child. They will give her a lot more space to crawl arund than a playpen so she isn't confined to pretty much sitting in one spot. I think you can look thenmm up in babysrus or something

I think my house might be too small for a play yard...let's just say I can vacuum wall to wall without having to unplug the sweeper! Now that's how you know you have a small house! If I had a bigger house and lots of money I'd be all over that though!! I like the idea of having something that's portable, too - we'll be going camping a lot this summer (at least we better be!!)
