Forget fads and new diets stick to good real food. Don't try to loose weight by eating less, exercise more, doesn't really matter what exercise too much as long as you get out of breath doing it. Your first goal should be to do half an hour a day. Eat oatmeal porridge for breakfast, easy to make just rolled oats and water, heat and stir in a pan of microwave for 2 mins. This releases energy slowly through the day. No red meat, little cheese, lots of fresh veg and fruits but no bananas, eat fish, especially oily fish. Communities that eat a lot of oily fish suffer from a lower incidence of a whole range of illnesses.
Oily fish include,
Salmon - nice
Trout
Mackerel - mmmm Mackeral
Herring
Sardines
Pilchards
Kipper Mmmm Kippers
Eel
Whitebait
Tuna (fresh only)
Anchovies
Swordfish
Bloater
Cacha
Carp
Hilsa
Jack fish
Katla
Orange roughy
Pangas
Sprats.
No burgers, no chips, no fried food. 5 portions of veg or fruit a day. No sweets, no chocolate, no pop, no ice cream.
Once you can do half an hour of exercise a day that makes you breathless, then start a proper exercise programme.

try to eat slower, try to avoid sweet and fatty foods, try to eat and drink foods with L-Carnitine foods. this foofds helps burn fat and transform to energy

One thing that has helped me a lot is keeping a food diary. A GREAT free one to use is www.fitday.com
In the morning for breakfast, food energy etc... a fruit smoothie is a good choice.
Here's a recipe - 1 small banana, 1/2 c. strawberries (fresh or thawed from frozen) and 1/2 c. soy milk or rice milk. put into the blender & mix real well. put in a to go cup if you're in a rush or sit down and enjoy your breakfast smoothie at the table. :)
For a snack, pack some fresh veggies...as many as you'll need between breakfast and lunch and Lunch-time you get home from work/school.
For Lunch, a Tuna sandwich on a whole wheat peta with lettuce and tomato, OR on a whole grain bread. My favorite is 12 grain bread. YUMMM
For dinner, steamed veggies, salad with a vinagrette, steamed or baked chicken (drain the broth) You can spice up the chicken with some MRS Dash or you can squeeze lemon juice and sprinkle with black pepper and paprika. OR Cayenne if you like really spicy.
For dessert, try a fruit salad - a good and light one - Lay a leaf of lettuce on a saucer, add 2 TBSP of skim cottage cheese and top with peach and pear quarters.
Try not to eat anything else 3 hrs before bed.
Get plenty of exercise and drink at least 6 quarts of water / day.
good luck!
