how many get an appt say for ten and its eleven or after before you see your doctor? does this make you upset or can you just laughit off; I have to take an Access bus to my appts and back and have to give them a time schedule so sometimes my time runs over the bus schedule and makes it hard for me and the bus driver what are your thoughts?

I kind of laugh because everyone know that even if you get to the Doctors on time you will still have to sit in the waiting room and also the room where the Doctors see you you actually see the Doctor. I am used to it so I dont mind.

I get really mad when this happens, the last time it happened my little girl was sick, really sick she had been vomiting and the like on and off for 5 days but she had turned worse and now wasnt taking any fluids whatsoever. My appointment was for 11.00am and we were seen at 12.15pm. I had to sit in that waiting room with my sick daughter for all that time and when she finally was seen she was sent straight to hospital suffering with dehydration.

That is really too bad they should have made a special effort to see a very sick child.

Let's look at it from a different angle. How many have complained that their doctors don't listen to them? Is this because they have a ten minute time slot for their appointment and once that ten minutes is up they are ushered out the door without getting to the point of all their problems? This is why doctors get behind schedule. Some get behind schedule because they had an emergency at the hospital.
When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I started having back labour on the Wednesday night. I slept through the night but woke up in the morning in labour. The labour consisted of contractions anywhere from 10 to 20 minute intervals. This went on all day long. I had an appointment with my OB that afternoon. When I went in I was told he was an hour behind schedule. I said to his secretary, "But I'm in labour." She told me to hold on a minute and she spoke to the doctor. She came back out and told me to have a seat. I hate to wait the hour for my turn to see the doctor. It was my first baby and it wasn't going to be in any hurry to come out as the day had already proven. In fact, I didn't have her until 1pm the following afternoon. People in the waiting room commented on how uncomfortable I looked. I don't remember whether I told them I was in labour.
Doctors get behind schedule for one reason or another. They can't have their secretary call every patient and guesstimate what time the doctor will actually see them. I was a little disturbed when, a couple of months ago, I tried to get an appointment for my daughter for after school. But the doctor doesn't book appointments after 3pm so I had to drive to my daughter's school twenty-five minutes away, getting her out of school a mere ten minutes early, to get her to her 2:50 appointment. When we got to the doctor's office it was standing room only and we waited half an hour or more. She could have stayed in school until the end of the day and taken the bus home. But there is no point in crying about it. When it was our turn to see the doctor, she didn't set a timer and tell us we had X number of minutes. She listened to everything we had to say and took everything into account. This is a woman who gets up at 5am to clean out her horse stalls. Working late is hard on her but she takes the time to listen to every single one of her patients.
We all have to learn to have a little patience. The world does not revolve around us. I would rather have a doctor who listens to me than one who puts me on a time clock.

You have hit on a good point as we do not really know just why our doctors are running late and the three I have I sure do intend to keep. I know I used to go to a different doctor in a large cliniic and so many times he was called out on emergency surgery so usually one of the other doctors would then pitch in.

I think this is actually quite common, unfortunate and unprofessional as it sounds.
Same thing for dentists. I also turn up for my appointments LATE intentionally because I know I have to wait. And 99% of the time, I still have to wait quite a bit even when I am already late.
It just galls me how someone being punctual at me needs to suffers in-punctuality.

I think all doctors run behind schedule, although some are worse than others. When I was working, I went to work at 8:00 a.m. I would always make my appointments for 9:00 a.m. or earlier if possible. I went to my eye appointment one day and I sat in the waiting room for an hour. So, I went to the desk and asked if they knew how much longer it would be? The girl looked at me and said, "I have no idea." I know my blood pressure shot up. So I just turned around and walked out and went back to work. In about an hour, the doctor's office called and this girl said, "We called you and you didn't answer. Did you have to leave?" I said, "Are you the idiot who told me you didn't have any idea how much longer it would be?" She said "yes." lol I don't mind waiting a bit, but anything over an hour is just ridiculous unless there is an emergency!
I still try to make my appointments for first thing in the morning, or first thing after lunch. Most of the time you get seen earlier. And I never make appointments for Mondays or Fridays!

It really makes me angry. If I have to take time off work to attend an appointment, that means I'm not getting paid for the time that I'm sitting around waiting for the doc. I still have to pay him though. I will normally give them until about 30 minutes past my appointment time, then walk out. I can understand if occasionally they have an emergency, but in that case they should let you know what's going on.
If your doc continues to do this, then it's time to find a new clinic.

I can but agree. As for me I take a special denior citizen bus and have to provide them with a time to comeback has to be at least an hour but sometimes I run over an hour and the bus comes and waits five min. and leaves so have to call them back so next time I tell them an hour and a halfand lo and behold I get in on time then have to wait an hour for my bus cannot win

Oh that sucks. It really does. My best advice is to make an appointment for a time where you tend not to run late. Wensdays tend to be the least buisiest days. The first appointment of the day, and the first appointment after lunch are the best ones to have. I find that if i go in on wensday or thursdays early, say at 9 am, or right after lunch say at 1 30, that i get in and out much quicker without waiting. Good luck!

you raise a very good point. I too have found that right after lunch is really best.
