Rent is going up

Before hurricane Katrina the house i am in was six hundred and now i'm paying a thousand a month. I am only ninteen years old and its getting harder and harder to live by. im making it through does anyone think that its getting pretty bad.

Greetings Tracy, You mentioned Hurricane Katrina. you live on the Gulf Coast by chance? Is it possible to get someone to share the rent with you so perhaps you can work on another plan to get something better? The man mentioned earlier on the house, but of course, you cannot do that unless you actually get a roomie; how one can go from $600 to over $1000 within two and a half years that is more so like highway robbery if you ask me.

I'd get a roommate and put the other 1/2 of the rent away in a bank account. I'd save til I had enough for a down payment on a home. For LESS than 1,000 you could mortgage a home. With the market down right now, I think you could score a good deal. In 10 yr your home would double in value and you could sell, pay off morgage and find another home.
