The Media Effects of the twentieth century are phenomenal, in prior centuries the only real negative effect of media was wrong information creating vivid stereotypes which are still hard to shake. The modern media service to terrify the populace and degrade the people.
The Terror campaign especially associated with the modern war in the Middle East shelters and unifies groups of like thinking citizens to refocus their initiaives. This is probably the only decent thing about it.The negative effects are numerous though the sheltered lives these people lead can only follow through to vain hatred and racism in other societies cultures or objects. For example the killer bees back in 1997 where parents where terrified to let there children out to play. The killer bees took no American life.
The other negative side to the modern media is the unrealistic human standards put forth especially regarding beauty. This unrealestic standard causes many people woe especially in the confidence department. The high standards set lead to a lot of the eating disorders, poor workforce quality and to a greater or lesser degree the overall moral or aura of the society...
Any Thoughts

The biggest effect that the media has on my family is causing a morph disorder. Look in the mirror and every flaw is more apparent then ever. I think the media as it is today makes everyone more cynical, terrified and uneasy.
I think the biggest terrorist in the USA is the news media.
How often do you see something in the news that makes you smile, or feel patriotic, or beautiful, special and important?
To soldiers, how many times do u see something in the news that makes you feel like people appreciate your efforts.
It's a shame, really.

yes, the media nowadays seems to have a knack for creating more hostility between people of different political parties, races, nations etc... it's really a wreck. I wouldn't be sad if all but the weather channel lost their ability to transmit a signal for a month or two and see how much more peaceful the world get as a result!

I would love to see that as well it is a good chunk of the reason I don't really watch the TV very much anymore the media has a tendancy to give half the story or quate things out of context. Whether it be the war in Iraq or the bombings or my prior the killer bees who killed no one just because they where more poisonous than the american variety. The media helps use fear to motivate and to sell and it is not the things that people need physically or mentally.
