or you just shrug them off as if they only happen to the other people and look at them as just news?

One thing I try NOT to do is listen to the news. All you hear is all the bad and none of the good. Of course there are accidents all over every day... that is part of driving. And yes, every once in a while there are going to be accidents that are going to be fatal. That happens... sometimes by accident and sometimes by the fault of others (not wearing seatbelts etc...). It reminds me to tell everyone to have a car that has anti-lock & traction control, wear your seat belts, and have a car with side and frontal airbags. Then, make sure you drive defensively but not scared... there is a difference. Great question. Zelo

I have had two of my brothers friends die in crashes... on on a bike (motorcycle) and one in a car. The first was not wearing a helmet and the other was not wearing a seatbelt. Although I felt empathy for my brother's loss I could not feel sorry for him or his friends family. There are things we have on this Earth that are dangerous and as humans we do the best we can do to avoid the consequences of those dangers... whether that be driving, on the job, homes, etc.... It really peeves me when people don't take the proper precautions... when I see a bad accident on the road my first thought is "I hope they were wearing their seatbelt". Thanks for the BR and I hope to keep up the decent responses in the future. Thanks Again Zelo

I think it's human nature to be a bit more careful in certain situations when you hear something bad has happened. I consider myself to be a decent and corteous driver and last year my boss had an accident when a driver knocked him off his bike and he was quite badly injured. After that happened it just made me all the more alert when driving near cyclists - after all they can't compete with a car and even if they are generally liable to make sudden turnings when you least expect it or drive through red lights, I am much more careful around them than I was before. Of course when you hear stories of people being mugged outside a train station for their mobile phone, hopefully it makes you more alert when leaving a train station - only someone really foolish would prance around flashing their expensive new mobile phone in an area where it's very common for people to be mugged for them... Unless of course you're a police officer!

Most of the mugging and thefts happen due to the unnecessary flaunting of the expensive gadgets and counting the money in the vicinity of the public.

Bala, this gets pertinent, specially after losing my dear friend in a recent accident. It's as painful as it gets and Bala we can hardly overcome the immature deaths of loved ones. Having said this, we hardly do care when it comes to any other person. How easy it is to get callous! I would not lie to you. I have been a careless kind and just after initial frownings I used to move on. But now, I think I am much concerned and mature, have learnt to take things seriously. It's not just about living but living substantially and healthily, happily.

As you know I am very emotional. It has been my routine to sit there with heavy heart calling my wife and lamenting her about the news of gruesome accidents. Well I am slowly revealing these to my daughter to make her sorry and be careful. Anyone who sees me on the road helping the old people, advising the moms to not to hold the young ones at the roadside where the vehicles rush and to keep them on the side walk side and carrying the school bags of the toddlers who was dropped at the parking lot at the school by the rich parents who are unable to squeeze out of their seats may think that I am a little out of my mind. But dear, I do know what I am doing.

No, you are not, not in the least. You are just keeping up with your instincts - a fatherly, caring and adorable human who leads the way for others. I have always found you endorsing this kind of views. People hardly care these days. they better not pause and caress, time is so important that they do not know what is their priority!! Thanks for being a great friend.

Well, anything that happens in the news unfortunetly can happen to us too ,but I always try to pray to God for protection not only for me ,but to others. Is important to be careful and to take precautions ,but sometimes things are out of our control ,so all I can do is to ask for the protection of God.

The truth, bala, is that there are days that I totally avoid watching the news. Because I can't convince myself that those unfortunate accidents won't happen to me. Sometimes, no matter careful we try to be, these things still occur. But I'm always careful especially when I'm at a public place. Road accidents are my greatest fear. That's why whenever my husband tend to drive a little faster, my heart starts beating fast too.

I see them as fate, when your times up, your times up! If you thought about it you wouldn't even step foot outside your own front door for fear of an accident happening to you! I think you have to shrug them off for the sake of sanity, otherwise you'd be worrying about going out, flying, driving, crossing the road even. Be safe but don't put yourself at risk and carry on with your life as normal.

I get paranoid and try to be very careful. Accidents can happen anytime and to anyone...me..a family member...a friend or a stranger. I never look at it as just news and always think 'What it was someone I knew?'

Certainly this kind of news and happening does effect me. I always try to be very careful while driving. But sometimes, the other fellows are in such a hurry that they tend to commit silly mistakes, while overspeeding or over-taking. Don't know what to do with others who drive in an insane manner.

Hello dear balasri. I think that it only makes me be more careful when I get to know some bad news. I take it as a lesson and will try not to make the same mistake that some other people have made. We are in fact learning a lot from what others have done in many things. Thanks.

Hi Balasri. Off course that incident gave me lesson of thoughts about the correlation between sources of happening and the relevant safety. Either it was from engineering disaster or human error application. To learn more on this matter, every time my siblings, friends or relatives having any predicament or ordeal, I have to visit them and it is a great lesson for me. Better learn from others.

Well, if i happen to see any accidents, then i spoil my mood. That day i will be really very careful on the roads. But, next day onwards it will be the usual stuff again. It wont have an effect for more than a day. However, if i hear about accidents or other bad news, it wont have much effect on me. Its all our fate. You could just be luck at times and unlucky sometimes... Anyways, Good luck to u! God bless :)
