Sleep in the morning vs sleep at night

With the growing numbers of jobs or work related activities at night, I keep on wondering how their sleeping patterns are. For me as a night sleeper, there's nothing more compared to a good night sleep to keep me active and alive the whole day. I'm sure the morning sleepers do also get enough sleep during the day to compensate for their being awake at night. Is a sleep in the morning as restful and as rejuvenating as a sleep at night?

i understand sleeping patterns are developed over a period of time. it takes a little while to really modify or change them as per the work/home requirement, I have worked in both kind of environment, e.g ay as well as night shift. so, quite obviously have a real time experience, sleeping in day time creates strees initially, which way reduce over a period of time and in some cases it may not, It can also create health related problems. most of the time one is not abler ot go out with friends even on week ends as you have to sleep in day and remain up in the night. though one can read books to utilise this time. one needs to be careful, also its little bit hard to sleep in the day as lot of noise in the neighbourhood, for which you dont have control. given a chance i will go for a night sleep, gives me enery and rejuvention

I see. I would say that we should be more considerate to the people who works on night shifts. We cannot eliminate all daytime noises but if we know somebody in the house or a neighbor who works during the night, let's try not to make too many unnecessary sounds.

i have been sleeping in the morning at some days when i have night shift work.. believe me, sleeping at night is wayyyy so much better than sleeping at morning or noon. you will at some point get up and never get back to sleep no matter how long you stay in bed in the morning... and also, sleep in the morning does not give you back the energy.. or maybe its just me... :( it was really hard for me though./

Before, my brother used to work on shifts also and there are times when he has to go on night shifts for a month. He always jokes that he is a vampire because he sleeps in the morning. And like what you have said, there are times that he just really can't sleep. He just take energy drinks to give him extra strength.

I find sleeping at night better. You dont have light around you to wake you up or lawn mowers going or everyday life happening. As you said alot of people sleep in the morning and go to work at night which changes there life alot. It takes me about 2 weeks to get used to a sleeping pattern or i wont be able to sleep. So my opinnion is that i like sleeping at night not during the day.

I agree. Maybe it's our body clock that is telling us that its nighttime already and we should sleep. When we suddenly shift to sleeping in the morning, our body clock is confused so we tend to have shallow sleeps.
