How many of Mr.Francis' fans are out there? (The site won't let me put in his first name!) I love these books. Started by getting one from the library. I usually just pick out 3 or 4 books at random. Then, if I like it, I go back for more. I really liked the book and then I started buying them to keep. I now have an extensive collection and reread them often. Just finished a "marathon" and they were all still good.

I find his books hit and miss although I do have most of them on my bookshelves
three of the best are rat race - about an air taxi firm
straight - about a diamond business
the edge - about a train journey across canada
I prefer those with slightly less about horse racing in them

I have read his newest and I really hope he will continue to write. I've read all of them and my favorite is Driving Force about a horse transport firm. I can't say I read all the parts about the races, but I like the fact that the main characters are usually one step ahead of the bad guys. Sometimes in books you wonder why someone doesn't "cover their backs" when they know someone out there is gunning for them. I enjoyed The Edge, too. Another favorite, Shattered, I believe, about a glass figurine maker, is also a favorite. One thing about his books, I always learn something about whatever business is represented in it. He does do a lot of research.

Not sure whether we can expect too many more books from him though, I believe he is almost 90 now
