Has your dog become your kid?

Many people have dogs... And some prefer them to having kids. 5 years ago my husband came home with a 5 week old beagle puppy. She was just the sweetest thing I have ever seen. I put a pillow in the floor and when she wanted to sleep she would walk over to it and go to sleep. He started spoiling her right away. I have never seen my husband take to any animal in the 13 years we had been together. But this little joy latched onto his heart. She's the only dog, that when she got sick, he had me take her to the vet. And his called me on the way twice to say "I don't care what it cost tell them to make my baby better". And tell them they better not hurt her. She was house broke in less then 2 days. And when he talks to her, you would think she knows what he is saying to her. She gets up in his lap and gives hugs, by placing her legs around his neck and pulling herself as close to him as she possible can. She will go to the front door when she needs to go out, and never bark, until he tells her well tell mommy you need to go out. Then she looks right at me and makes a low tone yep, as if she is saying please!!!...She is a joy in my life and I hope she's around for a long long time. Tell me about the loved animal in your life

Wow, that is such a cool story. Right now, I don't have any pet at home. But I do have a 6 month old child. And I can imagine how happy your life is, because of that lovely creature. To be happy and content with simple things makes life a little bit more wonderful. I'm happy that both of you found your joy. Let me ask by the way, don't you have a child? This thread or posting inspired me to love my child more. Hehe! It may sound unrelated, but honestly it inspired me to do so. Such love that is unconditional. It makes me think that love indeed is not hard to give, even to animals. If we can do that, it wouldn't be hard to love people more freely than we usually do right now. And life would me much peaceful.

Ya, I have two daughters, but they are now grown and on there own. Cookie (My beagle) helps to feel that empty nest feeling in my home. She is always getting up in my lap and laying next to me on the couch. Everyone that sees her, falls in love with her. She has such a personality. That would just blow you away. And as far as a child goes, If you are just honest with them, talk to them, and give them unconditional love. You will fulfeel a loving home. I raised my daughters with a lot of talking open and honest, they both graduated with a 4.0 grade point average, and my oldest join the Air Force as a Cop. She is now a mother and wife, and no longer in the service but she is still a Cop. The youngest just graduated 2 years ago and Works as a leasing agent for an appartment complex. And just finish a broadcast schooling. With love and understanding. You can find that unconditional love in and around you and your family. My girls will tell you, My Mom is my best friend. And you don't know how good that feels, to know that's how your kids feel about you. Give the love and understanding to that little one, and remember if you have done it growing up, chances are they will try too. The only thing you can do it to just try and stay one step ahead.

Our black lab/whippet mix dog became part of our family when she was 8 months old. She almost immediately became one of our kids. Our second child to be exact. She is a very good if somewhat excitable dog. And she is very protective of our daughter. Yes I believe your pet can become like your child.

I know, they can become so protective. I had a wolf/shepard mix when my girls where young. She treated them like they where her puppies. My son in law came over with his little girl that was about 8 month old and he was throwing her up in the air a catching her. Sheba my dog, got so up-set, if she could have gotten to him, I really think she would have attact him. She went crazy everytime he came over. I told him one day. She really don't like you. He couldn't go anywhere near her. And if his little girl got into the area she was in she could take her nose and guide her toward the dog house, away from him. And he new better them to try and go get her. I would have to go get her for him. I lost her to a snake bite

i knew some people that they loved so much their pets that they are considered as little kid too!! normally i like animals and pet too at home but ok when somebody exaggerated too much towards him just to remember that it's an animal so i don't know if it is good to have the same behaviour you will have with an humans! i read an article on that where doctors said that dogs or pets must be have the behaviour as their race such as animal if the contrary it is not good for the pets or animal character too!!may be true...
