Do you ever mix different types of paint? I was painting yesterday with acrylics and I wanted to mix a certain color, but I had no white paint left. I did have some latex paint, and I mixed it with the acrylic. It seemed to work fine. Honestly, I'm not even sure how much of a differnce there is, besides durability.
Have you done this before, or mixed other different kinds together? How did it work out? Ever have a disaster after doing this?

I have used different types of paint side by side. But I hav never mixed them.water based colors are easy to blend. but even then I don't think it will work well as the proportion of water or solvent and other chemicals will differ from paint to paint. It many work for a while but i don't think it will last long. if you are just experimenting, go ahead. but if you are making something very special which may become your masterpiece, please don't try anything new.

Hi sillychick,
Yes, I have also mix different paints. After my divorce, I needed to get my house fixed up to sell it. I really needed to paint the walls, but I only had some dark gray outdoor paint and some concrete paint that had sand in it. So I poured some of the concrete paint into the dark gray and it made a bluesh gray color. But I didn't have a rollor so I used a paint brush and brushed this on my living room wall. When it dryed I was so supprise on how good it really looked. People thought it was wall paper. My mother had some peach paint and I did the same with it, for one of the bedrooms. It gave it a really nice texture and created a look I have never seen anywhere else again. I plan to try that again in my living room now. But I just am not sure what color I plan to mix the concrete paint with yet.
