Have you ever logged into a site then typed in your password only for it not to be accepted and it asking for you to retype your password? Well it happens all too often on the internet. This is one form that hackers use to steal passwords etc. When this happens your best safety bet is to log off then resign in totally not type the password in again. Just a little info I thought I'd share for those whom may not know of this. A hacker could steal any info from that site if this is the case as to why the resign screen appeared. Not always as I have a hard time typing myself and always make mistakes. But when this shows up I log off then relog in just to be on the safe side avoiding any problems with my password, credit card info or personal info from that particular site. Thanks all. Do you ever get this resing in screen? Do you just type the password again or do you log off then start over?

Thanks for the information Grandpa Bob, I have had this happen quite a few times and I swear blind that I have typed in the right password, I check the caps lock too, and think I am going crazy, so what I do now is that if I suspect this is happening I will go in and quickly change my password, you can never be too careful, you hear so many stories of people having their accounts hacked into etc. It's always best to err on the side of caution, the consequences are too great. Sad isn't it when you have to think this way.

This is one main way that hackers can get personal info about us.
So be safe is all I cay. I log off then resogn in all the time when that happens to me.

Wow, I did not know this, thanks Grandpa Bob for this info. It has happened to me many times even when I've typed it slowly and I know I did not make a mistake. Great post!

Good information Bob. I dont have that problem,. not as yet.
Although a few years ago I had my e-gold account hacked into, so I guess they got my password then.
Watch out for trojans & viruses too. They are often used to access info on your computer. That is why it is very important to have a good anti-virus program.
Some programs recommend that you change your password regularly.

I have used Norton System Works for 15 years on my puter.
One of the best anti virus programs I feel. Have yet to
get a virus using this program as well. It updates the
virus definitions daily as well. It has many other programs
in it as well. A spyware program, an email filter etc etc.

Would this also apply to a secure site...you know...where the padlock is present...when it happens here I always think that I must have typed it wrong...but now I am not so sure....what do you think?

It can happen even with safe encrypted sites. As a safety precaution I always relog in instead of retyping. Just to be on the safe side. I know many times it was a mistyping on my behalf but I like to be safe is all.

Hello dear Grandpa Bob. Thanks very much for this helpful information. Yes, I have experienced this many times, but still tried and tried till I succeeded in logging my account. It would be very annoying when this happens to us. Now I can guess why I always have so many rubbish emails pouring in every day. I will be more careful next time when it happens again. Thank you very much, Bob.

You are very welcomed as well. Better to be safe than sorry I
always say. I don't trust having to retype my passwords so I
just relog in for safety reasons etc.

the sites it usually happens to me with are safe sites where I do not have any personal information, I often type too fast and mis my password, and have to retype it but I know from experience that it is me doing it, now if it was a site where I knew had important info I will take your advise from now on.

I always retype the password and if I fail twice I close the window, leave it for an hour then come back to it. You know I never thought to close the screen if it says password not accepted. I just assumed that I typed it in wrong or forgot the caps and stuff. Thanks for the tip Grandpa Bob.
