Where to travel for holiday

Where would you go for summer holiday with a little tot just under 2years. I`ve searched so many websites and been on the internet for hours and hours but still cant find anything that is family friendly and cheap at the same time. We were thinking portugal, and altough there are many travel companies that we can use, at the end they come with really expensive holiday. Do you know, what place in Portugal is kids save and sort of cheap as well for a week. I would appreciate any advise as i am sick of sitting in front of the computer any more.

I am from Malaysia and I have no idea about Portugal as where to spend a cheap and ideal summer holiday for a week there. Here I would to share a little bit of mine in my country. Hope you would like it.
When my son was little boy about 3 years, we used to bring him to the beach to spend our holidays there. We took about an hour drive to reach the beautiful beach resort. On the way we did enjoy watching the natural scene with lots of vegetations. We passed some ponds where my son enjoyed watching white ducklings moving and bathing on the ponds. We normally would stop for a while and let him to go near the spot to have closer contact with them.
Most of the children like to play with sand and water by the beach. My little boy used to indulge in making sand castle with his tools bought alone with him. He could spend hours on playing this. Sometimes we played games with a colorful big ball in the shallow water. My hubby snatched a lot of photos of us while playing happily by the seaside. We lay on the resort easy chairs by the beach and telling children tales to my son. He would feel asleep soon.
