colours that we wear and how we furnish our homes etc, tell people a lot of things about your personality-i tend to wear a lot of blue and black clothes with different coloured tops,to me sometimes i think maybe i'm trying to hide things from people or be a more neutral person-yet when i lok at the colours i have painted in my house though they are calming and comfortable all my rooms and the hallway are a different colour-in reflection it must show to some that there is some sort of confusion in my life-and looking at it yes there are a few things i really need to straighten out in my life-please share how you feel about colours and what they portray about a person or yourself-littleowl

My wardrobe is colorful because I like variety. Same with the inside of my house. Each room is a different color because my hubby and I hated the boring, hospital feel of the all white walls in our house. We like color. And, each room moves smoothly to the next as far as the colors go. Like my dining room which is a dark almost burgundy color, moves flawlessly to a tannish color in my foyer, which moves flawlessly into my library which is a brownish orange color. Everything has a fluidity. Each room sets its own mood. The library is relaxing and romantic. The living room is comfortable. Our bedroom is this extremely dark green (which I hated at first as it is the only color the hubby chose) but it grew on me and I wouldn't change it in a heartbeat now. It is so dark because it is a room for sleep...almost like a cave. LOL! It is a little controversial. Friends who have seen it either love it or hate it. But, everyone likes the way we painted. So, I do believe the colors you live with whether you are wearing them or living in or on them, say a lot about you.

LOL! Thank you! I am not always calm and down-to-earth but, my surroundings can help me get back there when I do get irrational! LOL! Also, you don't need an interior decorator. Just go with your instincts. I picked out all of my colors, except for the darker green in my bedroom (there is lighter green for some trim that I picked). It took about 6 months to pick all of the colors for our house but, it was well worth the time and energy in the end.

Well if you are confused I definately am! I'd say my kitchen is full of sunshine as thats bright yellow, bathroom was a mistake, too bright, needed to get a lighter shade of aqua so I could relax more, but will resolve that when I get chance, my daughters room has a grafitti wall where people draw pictures, sign there names etc, looks really effective actually. The lounge I love to relax in and that is a vary pale pastel green with lots of large green plants, and in fact the rest of the house tends to be pale neutral colours too. Clothes I wear tend to be jeans with various colour tops, mainly blue/reds rather than orange/reds as they suit my complexion more, blues, and yes of course the blacks too. I think colours do have an effect on your mood but not sure which ones mean what. Ellie :D

Hi Littleowl, just having read the other responses I now realise why I do not sleep aswell at night, before I swapped rooms with my son a few months ago I slept really well and the wals in that room were a very pale lilac, which I love, whereas I haven't got round to decorating my new room yet and it is a dark blue and yellow, yuk. The green in the lounge is almost a hint of tint and the green in from the plants enhances it so as I love nature it is a good colour for me. Didn't get to read other responses first sorry as I answered straight from email that your had started discussion. Have a wonderful day. Ellie :D

hi ellie, like you my kitchen is yellow-i dont mind that so much as its a joyful colour and is relaxing only it is in the wrong place-though it does make the room bright-i also changed my bedroom with my son and that was a lovely shade of blue-infact i slept well in there maybe because that is a calming colour but my bedroom now is magnolia and is too bright whereas my front room is two sades of liac and i could easily sleep there-sometimes i do~!! my hallway is maroon once again dark so also is a comfy colour to to have in a bedroom (only not on all walls you'd feel claustrophobic!) so confused i think i am-will have to try and get it right when i get the money! blessings littleowl

I like to have my the walls in the main rooms of my house bright white. I like it this way because I like bright bold colors for my furnishings and accents. In the bedrooms I like more personal touches. My son's room is shades of blue because he wanted an ocean themed room. It reflects his personality and who he is at this stage of his life. My room is a work in progress. The walls will be blush with white accents. The furnishings will be soft, pale pinks and very relaxing. Thankfully my husband has no problem with a pink bedroom. :) My kitchen will be done in red and white. I love the coutry feel of Red and White kitchens with roosters for the theme. It makes me feel homey and I love that. My clothes reflect me. I wear lots of pale pink. It makes me happy and I feel good when I am dressed in pink.

I agree with you littleowl, colours do reflect in a sense about our personilities or how we may be feeling at that particular moment. However today I am wearing all black as I like to feel slim again lol, after my bulging tummy has dramatically disappeared. I also have alot of light blue tops like yourself, I think this might mean I like to have a calm and peaceful life. Sometimes when I am happy I have a few yellow clothes, I notice when I wear them that always lifts my spirits. With the house, well I am renting off mum, so I can't paint it myself. However I noticed when I put colourful flowers around the house the other day, the atmosphere of the house feels alot fresher and happier.

I always tend to wear dark clothes, at first I wore dark clothes because I had put a lot of weight on a few years back and dark colours seem to hide it more, well in my mind it did. Now I have lost all the weight, but I still wear dark clothes! must be just habit now I guess. We moved to the house we are in 2 years ago and I still have not decorated everywhere yet from the previous owners tastes, but the rooms I have done are magnolia, with all bright accessories, I love bright colours for the house, but dark colours on myself, so I dont know what that portrays about me!

its true about dark clothes make you look slimmer than what you are-specially black-thats why i guess i wear a lot of it-yet am not overweight-but it seems too make me more feel more comfortable and confident about myself, magnolia portrays cleanliness purity so that is also part of you so it sounds that you are cleaning your house so that you're getting rid of the old and bringing in the new happy energy that you have-i think that bright colours around the house represent that you are a happy go lucky sort of person-littleowl

I always look for different soft shades of blue when buying clothes or some springgreen shades. also I love mauve and lavendar and some softer shades of purple. I know that my blues and greens sort of translate into serenity and peace.I hate the color yellow and orange. I don't know just what the lilac and mauves mean in my life but have used these colors on walls. i sometimes wear black with soft blue. I too used many colors when we had our house so maybe I also have some confusion in my life but I love soft blues and soft lilac colors.

hi hatley thanks for your response-i can really relate to you for the colour of different shades of purple they are so calming and spritual-the same with light blues-i really dont like the colour orange either dont know why-but i do like shades of yellow it resembles happiness, calm the sun-i find it is a joyful colour to wear and have in the house though at the moment my house isn't the colours i would like to have,a soft shade of purple is good for your bedroom though as it is so calming-blessings littleowl
